Job summary

Transguard Workforce Solutions in the UAE is seeking an experienced HV Switchgear Engineer to oversee the operation, maintenance, testing and troubleshooting of high-voltage electrical systems for our client in Dubai.

The ideal candidate has 8–12 years of experience in Oil & Gas or related sectors and will ensure safe, reliable distribution networks, with hands-on work on 11kV/33kV systems, circuit breakers, transformers, and protection relays.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with 8–12 years' oil & gas or energy sector experience.
• Proven experience with HV switchgear, transformers, protection relays, and power distribution systems.
• Knowledge of electrical testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance of HV/MV/LV electrical systems.
• Maintain and troubleshoot 11kV, 33kV, and higher voltage distribution systems.
• Operate, test, and maintain ACB, VCB, and SF6 circuit breakers from leading manufacturers such as ABB, Siemens, and Schneider.
• Carry out safe switching, isolation, grounding, and restoration of high-voltage equipment in accordance with LOTO and safety procedures.
• Perform HV cable jointing, termination, fault finding, and testing using specialized equipment.
• Conduct testing, calibration, and troubleshooting of protection relays and electrical protection systems.
• Maintain and operate transformers, VFDs, UPS systems, battery chargers, inverters, RTCC panels, and distribution boards.
• Support outage planning, commissioning activities, shutdown maintenance, and electrical system upgrades.
• Prepare and update control, protection, and electrical schematics for switchgear and control panels.
• Ensure compliance with company standards, industry regulations, and HSE requirements.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 8-12 years of experience in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Energy, or Industrial sectors.
• Proven experience with HV switchgear, transformers, protection relays, and power distribution systems.
• Strong knowledge of electrical testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance practices.
• Familiarity with RTCC panels, cathodic protection systems, fire alarm systems, and explosion-proof equipment is preferred.
• Sound understanding of electrical safety standards, OSHA requirements, and LOTO procedures.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and technical reporting skills.
