Job summary

HUMAN-AI-Z Nexus Technology in Dubai seeks an experienced HV Electrical Engineer to lead high-voltage works, including transformers, switchgear and power distribution, ensuring safe execution and compliance with UAE/GCC standards.

The role requires 5+ years in HV testing/commissioning, PTW proficiency, and coordination with clients, authorities, and contractors, with preference for RA authorization and UAE utility approvals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in HV electrical projects, testing, commissioning, operation or maintenance.
• Strong practical experience with HV transformers, HV switchgear, power distribution, HV cables, protection and control systems.
• Experience with testing and commissioning equipment.
• Good knowledge of HV Permit-to-Work (PTW) procedures.
• Previous experience as Authorized Receiving Authority (RA) or equivalent preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HV safety, isolation procedures, earthing, switching operations, protection systems and electrical standards.
• Experience with UAE/EUA electrical authorities/utilities (DEWA/TAQA) preferred.
• HV project experience in UAE or GCC preferred.
• Good communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in HV energization and shutdown activities.
• Experience working with UAE electrical authorities/utilities.
• Valid UAE driving license is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise HV electrical works including power distribution systems, transformers, HV switchgear, power cables and related equipment.
• Perform and coordinate testing and commissioning of HV transformers, cables, switchgear, protection systems and other HV equipment.
• Ensure proper implementation of HV Permit-to-Work (PTW) procedures, isolation, switching and electrical safety requirements.
• Coordinate HV switching operations, equipment isolation, earthing, and restoration per approved procedures.
• Review and ensure compliance with electrical drawings, method statements, inspection and test plans and applicable standards.
• Identify and troubleshoot HV electrical faults and provide technical solutions.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and authorities during project execution, testing and commissioning.
• Ensure all HV works comply with UAE/GCC regulations, safety standards and project requirements.
• Maintain testing, commissioning, inspection and HV operational records.
• Support authority inspections, approvals, energization and handover activities.

Desired Candidate Profile

1. Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

2. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in HV electrical projects, testing, commissioning, operation, or maintenance.

3. Strong practical experience with:

   • HV transformers

   • HV switchgear

   • Power distribution systems

   • HV power cables

   • Protection and control systems

4. Good knowledge and practical experience with HV Permit-to-Work (PTW) procedures.

5. Previous experience as an Authorized Receiving Authority (RA) or equivalent is highly preferred.

6. Strong knowledge of HV safety, isolation procedures, earthing, switching operations, protection systems, and electrical standards.

7. Candidates with current or previous approvals/authorizations from DEWA, TAQA, or equivalent UAE electrical authorities/utilities will be highly preferred.

8. Previous UAE or GCC HV project experience is preferred.

9. Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

10. Experience in HV testing and commissioning of transformers, cables, switchgear, and protection systems.

11. Experience with HV energization and shutdown activities.

12. Experience working with UAE electrical authorities/utilities.

13. Valid UAE driving license is an advantage.
