Job summary

Dar, the founding member of the Sidara group, is seeking a Safety Officer to drive HSSE activities across projects in the UAE. You will implement health, safety and environmental policies and oversee training to ensure a safe workplace.

You will inspect premises, investigate incidents, maintain records, and report to management. A bachelor’s degree or diploma in a related field plus NEBOSH/ISO 14001 certification is preferred; construction or engineering industry experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or related fields.
• NEBOSH, ISO 14001 certifications may be preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health, Safety, Security & Environment policies are followed and updated.
• Inspect premises and oversee safe work practices and protective equipment usage.
• Confirm statutory HSSE obligations and maintain training and reporting.
• Initiate HSSE training for employees and executives.
• Record and investigate incidents and manage workers' compensation claims.
• Identify workplace hazards and implement control measures.
• Review accident investigations with clear documentation and follow-up.
• Prepare HSSE reports for upper management and attend PM meetings.

The main objective of Safety Officer is to drive all Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) activities and ensure that Dar complies with all applicable HSSE regulation and the workforce is free from danger, risk, or injury at the workplace.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure that all Health, Safety, Security & Environment Policies, Procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.
• Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment) and Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc.
• Confirm the company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work including statutory training and reporting.
• Initiate and organize OHS training of employees and executives.
• Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker’s compensation claims.
• Identifying work place hazards, hazards classifications, control measures and following up.
• Reviewing and updating accident investigations to ensure all items include description of the accident, loss, immediate causes, basic causes, recommendation, and follow up.
• Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management.
• Attend Project Management Meetings when required to report on relevant health and safety matters.
• Perform any other jobs as may be assigned by the superiors.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or related fields.
• Relevant certifications in environmental management and safety, such as NEBOSH, ISO 14001, etc., may be preferred.
