Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Health, Safety & Environment professional to oversee safety on infrastructure projects in the UAE, including drainage, wastewater and rehabilitation works. You will develop plans, supervise site activities, liaise with authorities and clients.

Requirements include a degree in HSE, NEBOSH IGC 3, 5+ years in relevant work, UAE driving license, and TAQA approval preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Health & Safety Engineering or Environmental Science.
• Minimum of 5 years in miscellaneous drainage work, construction rehabilitation work and wastewater background.
• NEBOSH IGC level 3 is mandatory and other HSE related Diploma certification.
• UAE Driving Licence is required.
• Previous TAQA approval is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and best practices in the UAE & Abu Dhabi.

Responsibilities

• Ensure site safety health and environment management.
• Assist with construction health and safety plans.
• Ensure documentation submitted to authorities.
• Attend planning, site, technical and progress meetings; facilitate safety meetings.
• Maintain health and safety communications with sub-contractors.
• Develop emergency response and preparedness plans; test their effectiveness.
• Conduct site safety inductions and supervise incident reporting and investigations.
• Prepare technical health & safety reports and present to decision makers.
• Liaise with clients and manage client service activities.

Description

The role involves working on projects associated with Sewerage & Stormwater, Flood Alleviation, Wastewater Networks and Water distribution networks Pumping Station, Recycling Plant and rehabilitation works. This will involve undertaking investigations, planning, designing, tendering, contract administration and construction supervising & monitoring.

Key accountabilities for this position include but are not limited to:

• Responsible for l site Safety health and environment management.
• Assist with the preparation of a construction health and safety plan.
• Confirm necessary documentation was submitted to the relevant authorities.
• Attend project planning meetings. Attend regular site, technical and progress meetings. Facilitate site health and safety meetings.
• Establish and maintain health and safety communication structures and systems, distribution of health and safety specific documents to sub-contractors.
• Compiling project specific emergency response and preparedness plans
• Testing the effectiveness of the emergency response plans
• Conduct site safety inductions.
• Oversee the reporting and investigation of project related incidents.
• Development of technical reports in relation to health and safety issues and communicate through presentations to diverse groups of decision makers
• Client Service Management

• Ability to build and maintain safety environment at site.
• Experience in infra project HSE supervision Management.
• Follow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.

Maintain the health and safety environment at workplace.

• Other duties as requested from time to time by the Resident Engineer

• Bachelor's degree/Diploma in Engineering in Health & Safety Management, Environmental Science or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Miscellaneous Drainage Work, Construction rehabilitation work and Wastewater background.
• NEBOSH IGC level 3 is mandatory and other HSE related Diploma certification.
• Abu Dhabi Public Health Center Practitioner Course.
• Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and best practices, particularly in the UAE & Abu Dhabi.
• with UAE Driving License.
• Previous TAQA Approval is preferred.
