Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Health & Safety Engineer to lead HSE activities on infrastructure projects in the United Arab Emirates, focusing on sewerage, drainage and water distribution networks. You will supervise site safety, prepare safety plans, and ensure regulatory compliance throughout design, tender, construction and commissioning stages.

The role requires NEBOSH IGC 3, UAE driving license, and a strong understanding of HSE regulations in Abu Dhabi.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Diploma in Engineering in Health & Safety Management, Environmental Science or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in miscellaneous drainage work, construction rehabilitation work and wastewater background.
• NEBOSH IGC level 3 is mandatory and other HSE related Diploma certification.
• Abu Dhabi Public Health Center Practitioner Course.
• Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and best practices, particularly in the UAE & Abu Dhabi.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for site safety health and environment management.
• Assist with the preparation of a construction health and safety plan.
• Confirm necessary documentation submitted to the relevant authorities.
• Attend project planning meetings and site/technical/progress meetings; facilitate safety meetings.
• Establish and maintain health and safety communication structures and systems for sub-contractors.
• Develop project-specific emergency response and preparedness plans.
• Testing the effectiveness of emergency response plans.
• Conduct site safety inductions.
• Oversee reporting and investigation of project incidents.
• Develop technical reports on health and safety issues for decision makers.
• Client service management and liaison with internal and external clients.
• Follow safe work practices and company guidelines.

This will involve undertaking investigations, planning, designing, tendering, contract administration and construction supervising & monitoring.

Key accountabilities for this position include but are not limited to

• Responsible for l site Safety health and environment management.
• Assist with the preparation of a construction health and safety plan.

Internal and external client liaison

Ability to build and maintain safety environment at site.

Experience in infra project HSE supervision Management.

• Follow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.

Maintain the health and safety environment at workplace.

• Other duties as requested from time to time by the Resident Engineer
