Job summary

Stantec in Abu Dhabi seeks an experienced Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) professional to lead safety management on sewerage & stormwater, wastewater, and water distribution projects. Responsibilities include investigations, planning, design, tendering, contract administration and construction supervision.

The role focuses on site safety leadership, incident reporting and investigation, regulatory compliance, and liaison with authorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Engineering (HSE) or equivalent.
• 5+ years in drainage rehab and wastewater projects.
• NEBOSH IGC level 3 mandatory + other HSE diplomas.
• Abu Dhabi Public Health Center Practitioner Course.
• Strong knowledge of UAE/Abu Dhabi HSE regulations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure site safety, health and environment management on projects.
• Assist with construction health and safety planning and documentation.
• Attend planning, technical and progress meetings; coordinate safety communications.
• Prepare emergency response plans and test their effectiveness.
• Oversee incident reporting and investigations; prepare technical reports.
• Liaise with clients and authorities; uphold Stantec quality procedures.

Job description

Description: The role involves working on projects associated with Sewerage & Stormwater, Flood Alleviation, Wastewater Networks and Water distribution networks Pumping Station, Recycling Plant and rehabilitation works. This will involve undertaking investigations, planning, designing, tendering, contract administration and construction supervising & monitoring.

Key accountabilities

Key accountabilities for this position include but are not limited to:

• Responsible for l site Safety health and environment management.
  Assist with the preparation of a construction health and safety plan.
• Confirm necessary documentation was submitted to the relevant authorities.
• Attend project planning meetings. Attend regular site, technical and progress meetings. Facilitate site health and safety meetings.
• Establish and maintain health and safety communication structures and systems, distribution of health and safety specific documents to sub-contractors.
• Compiling project specific emergency response and preparedness plans
  Testing the effectiveness of the emergency response plans
  Conduct site safety inductions.
• Oversee the reporting and investigation of project related incidents.
  Development of technical reports in relation to health and safety issues and communicate through presentations to diverse groups of decision makers
  Client Service Management
  Internal and external client liaison
  Ability to build and maintain safety environment at site.
  Experience in infra project HSE supervision Management.
• Follow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.
• Complete all work in line with Stantec Core Values and in accordance with the Stantec Quality Systems and Project Quality Procedures.
• Maintain the health and safety environment at workplace.
• Other duties as requested from time to time by the Resident Engineer.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree/Diploma in Engineering in Health & Safety Management, Environmental Science or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Miscellaneous Drainage Work, Construction rehabilitation work and Wastewater background.
• NEBOSH IGC level 3 is mandatory and other HSE related Diploma certification.
• Abu Dhabi Public Health Center Practitioner Course.
• Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and best practices, particularly in the UAE & Abu Dhabi.
