Job summary

EDGE is seeking a Head of Radar Engineering to lead the development and delivery of advanced radar capabilities. You will oversee architecture, design, simulation, integration, testing, and lifecycle support, building high‑performing multidisciplinary teams and shaping the radar technology roadmap for defense and aerospace programs.

This strategic role requires 12+ years in radar engineering with 5+ years in senior leadership, plus hands‑on experience with radar test equipment and modeling

Qualifications

• 12+ years in radar engineering and 5+ years in senior leadership roles
• Proven success in radar system design, simulation, integration, and delivery for defense/aerospace programs
• Hands-on experience with radar test equipment (network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes)
• Experience with modeling & simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, Python, ADS, CST
• Experience interfacing with customers, government authorities, and senior stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Lead radar engineering function across design, simulation, integration, validation, and lifecycle support
• Define and govern radar system architecture across RF, antenna, digital, software, and systems engineering domains
• Establish technical strategy, capability development, and radar roadmap aligned with defense programs
• Provide technical and organizational leadership including recruitment, mentoring, performance management
• Plan and manage resources, budgets, and execution to meet delivery and quality requirements
• Oversee simulation and performance assessment for radar metrics (range, Doppler, SNR, detection probability)
• Act as primary technical interface with executive management, customers, suppliers, and government representatives
• Ensure compliance with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, AQAP and internal governance
• Lead technical risk management and drive process improvements
• Drive strategic radar technology decisions, R&D investments, and future capability development
• Support business development with technical proposals and customer presentations

As Head of Radar Engineering, you will lead the development and delivery of advanced radar capabilities, overseeing architecture, design, simulation, integration, testing, and lifecycle support. This is a strategic leadership role, responsible for building high-performing multidisciplinary engineering teams, shaping the radar technology roadmap, and ensuring technical excellence across complex defense and aerospace programs.

Main Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the Radar Engineering function across design, simulation, integration, validation, and lifecycle support activities
• Define and govern radar system architecture, ensuring technical coherence across RF, antenna, digital, software, and systems engineering domains
• Establish the department’s technical strategy, capability development plans, and radar technology roadmap aligned with company and defense program objectives
• Provide technical and organizational leadership to multidisciplinary engineering teams, including recruitment, mentoring, performance management, and succession planning
• Plan and manage engineering resources, budgets, priorities, and execution to meet program delivery, quality, and customer requirements
• Oversee simulation and performance assessment activities for key radar metrics (range, Doppler, SNR, detection probability, tracking accuracy, ECCM performance)
• Act as the primary technical interface with executive management, program managers, customers, suppliers, and government representatives
• Ensure compliance with applicable military and aerospace standards (MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, AQAP) and internal engineering governance frameworks
• Lead technical risk management activities, define mitigation strategies, and drive continuous improvement across engineering processes and methodologies
• Drive strategic decisions related to radar technologies, R&D investments, innovation initiatives, and future capability development
• Support business development activities, including technical proposals, customer presentations, bid reviews, and strategic partnerships
• Ensure effective coordination between Radar Engineering and other departments including Systems Engineering, Software, Mechanical, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance

Required Experience

• 12+ years in radar engineering, with at least 5 years in senior leadership or management roles
• Proven success in radar system design, simulation, integration, and delivery within defense or aerospace programs
• Hands-on experience with radar test equipment (network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes)
• Strong background in modeling and simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink, Python, ADS, CST)
• Experience managing engineering resources, schedules, and technical performance across multiple projects
• Familiarity with systems engineering processes, requirements traceability, and verification/validation matrices
• Experience interfacing with customers, government authorities, and senior stakeholders in technical and program reviews
• Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills with the ability to represent the company at executive and customer levels
• Experience contributing to R&D initiatives, technology strategy, or product roadmap development is highly desirable
