Job summary

Edge Group in Abu Dhabi seeks a seasoned Radar Engineering Leader responsible for design, simulation, integration and lifecycle support of radar systems. You will set the technical strategy, governance, and roadmap, while leading diverse engineering teams across RF, antenna, digital, and software domains.

You will mentor staff, manage budgets, and ensure program delivery with rigorous risk management and compliance to MIL-STD frameworks. Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement are essential.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in radar engineering with leadership experience
• Proven radar system design, simulation, integration, and delivery
• Hands-on radar test equipment experience (network/spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes)
• Strong modeling/simulation background (MATLAB/Simulink, Python, ADS, CST)
• Experience with systems engineering processes, requirements traceability, verification/validation matrices
• Experience interfacing with customers, government authorities, and senior stakeholders
• Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making at executive level
• Experience contributing to technology strategy or roadmap development

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the Radar Engineering function across design, simulation, integration, validation, and lifecycle support activities
• Define and govern radar system architecture across RF, antenna, digital, software, and systems engineering domains
• Establish department’s technical strategy, capability development plans, and radar technology roadmap
• Provide technical and organizational leadership to multidisciplinary teams including recruitment and mentorship
• Plan and manage engineering resources, budgets, priorities, and execution to meet program delivery
• Oversee simulation and performance assessment of radar metrics (range, Doppler, SNR, detection probability)
• Act as primary technical interface with executives, managers, customers, suppliers, and government reps
• Ensure compliance with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, AQAP and internal governance
• Lead technical risk management, mitigation strategies, and process improvements
• Drive strategic decisions on radar technologies, R&D investments, and partnerships
• Support business development with technical proposals and customer presentations
• Coordinate Radar Engineering with Systems, Software, Mechanical, Manufacturing, and QA departments

Main Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the Radar Engineering function across design, simulation, integration, validation, and lifecycle support activities
• Define and govern radar system architecture, ensuring technical coherence across RF, antenna, digital, software, and systems engineering domains
• Establish the department’s technical strategy, capability development plans, and radar technology roadmap aligned with company and defense program objectives
• Provide technical and organizational leadership to multidisciplinary engineering teams, including recruitment, mentoring, performance management, and succession planning
• Plan and manage engineering resources, budgets, priorities, and execution to meet program delivery, quality, and customer requirements
• Oversee simulation and performance assessment activities for key radar metrics (range, Doppler, SNR, detection probability, tracking accuracy, ECCM performance)
• Act as the primary technical interface with executive management, program managers, customers, suppliers, and government representatives
• Ensure compliance with applicable military and aerospace standards (MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, AQAP) and internal engineering governance frameworks
• Lead technical risk management activities, define mitigation strategies, and drive continuous improvement across engineering processes and methodologies
• Drive strategic decisions related to radar technologies, R&D investments, innovation initiatives, and future capability development
• Support business development activities, including technical proposals, customer presentations, bid reviews, and strategic partnerships
• Ensure effective coordination between Radar Engineering and other departments including Systems Engineering, Software, Mechanical, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance

Required Experience

• 12+ years in radar engineering, with at least 5 years in senior leadership or management roles
• Proven success in radar system design, simulation, integration, and delivery within defense or aerospace programs
• Hands-on experience with radar test equipment (network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes)
• Strong background in modeling and simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink, Python, ADS, CST)
• Experience managing engineering resources, schedules, and technical performance across multiple projects
• Familiarity with systems engineering processes, requirements traceability, and verification/validation matrices
• Experience interfacing with customers, government authorities, and senior stakeholders in technical and program reviews
• Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills with the ability to represent the company at executive and customer levels
• Experience contributing to R&D initiatives, technology strategy, or product roadmap development is highly desirable
