The Head of Department – Arabic will provide strategic and instructional leadership for the Arabic Department in a CBSE curriculum school. Responsibilities include curriculum planning, classroom practice, assessment, teacher development, student progress, regulatory compliance, and continuous academic improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Arabic Department across relevant grade levels
- Establish clear expectations for teaching quality, curriculum delivery, assessment, and student progress
- Develop and implement curriculum plans aligned with UAE Ministry of Education and CBSE requirements
- Review schemes of work, lesson plans, assessments, learning resources, and curriculum coverage
- Monitor student attainment and use performance data to identify areas requiring improvement
- Develop targeted academic interventions for students, classes, or grade levels
- Conduct regular classroom observations and provide constructive professional feedback
- Mentor, coach, and support Arabic teachers through collaborative planning and professional development
- Promote effective pedagogy, differentiated instruction, and student‑centred learning
- Encourage the appropriate use of educational technology in Arabic language teaching
- Coordinate departmental assessments, moderation, examination preparation, and progress reporting
- Ensure consistent marking, feedback, and assessment standards across the department
- Maintain compliance with KHDA, UAE Ministry of Education, CBSE, and school quality requirements
- Prepare curriculum records, departmental reports, improvement plans, and inspection evidence
- Lead departmental meetings and ensure agreed actions are completed within defined timelines
- Support teachers in addressing varied learning needs and improving student engagement
- Collaborate with senior leaders on school improvement priorities and strategic academic goals
- Promote Arabic language learning, UAE culture, national identity, and cultural awareness
- Communicate professionally with students, parents, teachers, and school leadership
- Maintain accurate records related to curriculum delivery, student outcomes, staff development, and departmental performance
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Arabic from a recognized institution
- Recognised teaching qualification required
- Master’s degree in Arabic, Education, or related field preferred
- Minimum 3 years of relevant teaching experience
- At least 2 years of experience as Head of Department, Subject Coordinator, or equivalent academic leader
- Experience in a CBSE curriculum school within the United Arab Emirates highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of UAE Ministry of Education requirements for Arabic
- Familiarity with KHDA inspection standards and school quality expectations
- Proven ability to improve teaching standards and student achievement
- Experience conducting lesson observations, coaching teachers, and leading professional development
- Strong understanding of curriculum planning, assessment, moderation, and data analysis
- Excellent Arabic language subject knowledge
- Strong written and spoken communication skills
