Overview

The Head of Department Science plays a strategic role in managing curriculum excellence, teacher development, and student academic achievement across the Science department. The role works closely with teachers and senior leadership to strengthen pedagogy, improve lesson quality, and ensure all department activities align with British curriculum expectations and UAE education standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Science department with strong academic planning and subject leadership across Chemistry, Physics, and related disciplines.
• Work closely with teachers to improve subject knowledge, teaching methodology, and classroom delivery for stronger student outcomes.
• Support departmental planning and contribute actively to whole‑school academic improvement strategies.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to raise academic standards and improve overall student performance.
• Ensure teaching practices align with UAE teaching frameworks and maintain a minimum standard of good teaching across all lessons.
• Monitor, evaluate, and improve teaching quality through classroom observations, mentoring, and professional feedback.
• Prepare department plans, curriculum mapping, assessments, and academic progress reports.
• Support examination preparation, curriculum reviews, and department compliance documentation.
• Participate in KHDA inspections, audits, and academic review processes where required.
• Maintain strong communication with parents, staff, and leadership regarding academic progress and department development.
• Undertake additional responsibilities related to departmental leadership and school improvement initiatives.

Ideal Profile

• Master of Science in Chemistry or Physics (mandatory).
• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) is an advantage.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in an academic leadership role within a British Curriculum school in the UAE.
• Strong knowledge of British curriculum teaching standards and UAE educational frameworks.
