The Grade 5 Teacher will guide students through an important stage of elementary education, combining strong academic foundations with inquiry, creativity and increasing learner independence. The role requires thoughtful curriculum delivery that supports different learning needs while encouraging students to question, collaborate, communicate and take responsibility for their progress. Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging Grade 5 lessons aligned with Dubai American Academy curriculum expectations and educational standards.
- Create inquiry-driven learning experiences that encourage questioning, investigation, problem-solving and independent thinking.
- Teach age-appropriate literacy, mathematics, science, social studies and integrated learning where assigned.
- Develop students ' reading comprehension, written communication, numeracy and analytical skills through structured classroom practice.
- Use creative teaching strategies that make learning relevant, interactive and accessible.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, language and developmental needs of students within an international classroom.
- Provide appropriate extension and challenge for students working above expected levels.
- Identify students requiring additional support and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
- Use formative and summative assessment to monitor understanding and measure academic progress.
- Analyse student achievement information and use findings to inform lesson planning and intervention.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback that helps students understand their strengths and next learning steps.
- Encourage students to reflect on their progress and develop greater responsibility for their own learning.

Ideal Profile
- Candidates should hold a Bachelor of Education in Elementary or Primary Education, or an equivalent bachelor 's degree supported by a recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, PGDE or a valid teaching license.
- Applicants should have proven experience teaching Elementary students, with Grade 5 experience particularly relevant.
- Previous experience within an American curriculum or IB environment will be advantageous.
- The successful teacher should demonstrate a strong understanding of inquiry-based learning and developmentally responsive teaching.
- Candidates must be able to plan for mixed-ability classrooms and differentiate instruction effectively for diverse international learners.
- A strong understanding of elementary assessment, student progress monitoring and curriculum planning is required.
