Job summary

Siemens Energy in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Lead Winder to perform advanced generator field service activities, including stator and rotor winding work, during outages and overhaul projects.

You will work independently and with cross-functional teams, mentoring junior members while developing toward technical leadership.

This role requires travel and strong English communication to support global field service projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in generator winding on large turbo generators.
• Strong knowledge of winding construction, insulation systems, and repair methods.
• Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to identify and fix issues.
• Ability to work independently and in multicultural field service teams.
• Electrical Engineering degree with strong English communication and travel willingness.

Your day involves performing advanced generator field service activities, including stator and rotor winding repairs, troubleshooting winding-related issues, and supporting generator testing, inspections, and mechanical assembly during outages. You will work independently on technically complex tasks, contribute continuous improvement ideas, and help strengthen the team's expertise while developing toward a future technical leadership role as a Lead Winder.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Execute complex generator field service activities during installation, overhaul, repair, modification, and rewind projects while adhering to Siemens Energy quality and safety standards.
• Perform advanced stator and rotor winding activities, including rewinding, winding repairs, brazing, insulation work, component replacement, and refurbishment of generator components.
• Conduct stator rewedging, winding improvement initiatives, insulation repairs, and support generator testing activities by diagnosing and resolving winding-related issues.
• Support generator disassembly and reassembly activities during outages, working closely with testing engineers, mechanical teams, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
• Provide technical leadership through troubleshooting, knowledge sharing, continuous improvement initiatives, accurate documentation, and mentoring junior team members while developing toward a Lead Winder role.

What You Bring

• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in generator winding, including stator and rotor rewinding, stator rewedging, and winding repair activities on large turbo generators.
• Strong technical knowledge of generator winding construction, insulation systems, winding connections, brazing, and repair methodologies.
• Proven troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify abnormal conditions and implement effective technical solutions.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multicultural, cross‑functional field service teams, while supporting a wide range of generator outage activities.
• Technical qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with strong English communication skills and willingness to travel extensively, work shifts, and support global field service projects.
