Job summary

NAFFCO Careers seeks a Fire Chief to provide strategic and operational leadership for the fire and emergency services function across the organisation’s sites, driving firefighting, prevention and emergency response while ensuring regulatory compliance.

The role involves developing emergency plans, managing budgets and resources, and promoting a culture of safety, resilience and continuous improvement. Collaboration with internal and external agencies is essential.

Qualifications

• Relevant professional qualifications in fire safety, fire engineering, emergency planning or a related discipline desirable.
• Substantial operational leadership experience in fire and rescue services or similar environments, including leadership roles.
• Proven experience in incident command, fire safety management and multi‑agency coordination.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate operational response to fires and other emergencies, ensuring incidents are managed effectively and safely.
• Develop and maintain incident command procedures with clear roles and escalation routes.
• Oversee fire risk assessments, prevention programmes and corrective actions to reduce risk.
