Job summary

The role requires troubleshooting during plant shutdowns, supporting the Sr. Technician, and adhering to safety, health, and environmental practices in a workshop setting.

Qualifications

• ITI in Mechanical Fitter Trade is mandatory
• Knowledge of predictive and preventive maintenance
• Understanding of engineering drawings and hydraulic circuits

Responsibilities

• Execute scheduled maintenance and minor repairs to optimize production and reduce downtime.
• Troubleshoot during shutdowns and identify root causes for corrective actions.
• Inspect equipment to ensure compliance with safety and engineering standards during finishing maintenance.
• Assist Sr. Technician in all technical activities and act as Sr. Technician when required.
• Follow established mechanical maintenance standards and procedures.

General Summary

To perform maintenance and overhauling activities of the Finishing Section throughout the plant with high proficiency, quality, and maximum safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Implement Production Optimization

• Execute scheduled corrective maintenance and major repairs of equipment to optimize production and minimize plant downtime related to maintenance activities.

Facilitate Corrective Action

• Perform troubleshooting during shutdowns of mechanical equipment and assist in identifying root causes for corrective actions.
• Attend mechanical maintenance issues during plant shutdowns and communicate equipment abnormalities to supervisors for planning and rectification.
• Ensure availability of required tools and tackles.

Meet Engineering and Safety Principles

• Inspect equipment to ensure compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations during maintenance activities in the Finishing Section.

Assistance and Support

• Assist Sr. Technician – Finishing in all technical activities to ensure smooth maintenance operations during shutdowns.
• Act as Sr. Technician in the absence of the Sr. Technician or whenever required by the section.

Following Standards

• Follow mechanical maintenance standards for all equipment in Workshop – Finishing.

Health, Safety and Environmental Practices

• Comply with all relevant safety, quality, health, and environmental policies and procedures applicable to maintenance activities.

Minimum Education Qualifications

Mandatory

• ITI in Mechanical Fitter Trade.

Required Technical Knowledge

• Knowledge of predictive and preventive maintenance.
• Knowledge and skills in troubleshooting mechanical problems.
• Understanding of engineering drawings and hydraulic circuits.

Professional Experience

Mandatory

• 3–5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within a steel plant as a Technician / Fitter.

Preferred

• Knowledge of rigging and slinging activities.
