General Summary
To perform maintenance and overhauling activities of the Finishing Section throughout the plant with high proficiency, quality, and maximum safety standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Implement Production Optimization
- Execute scheduled corrective maintenance and major repairs of equipment to optimize production and minimize plant downtime related to maintenance activities.
Facilitate Corrective Action
- Perform troubleshooting during shutdowns of mechanical equipment and assist in identifying root causes for corrective actions.
- Attend mechanical maintenance issues during plant shutdowns and communicate equipment abnormalities to supervisors for planning and rectification.
- Ensure availability of required tools and tackles.
Meet Engineering and Safety Principles
- Inspect equipment to ensure compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations during maintenance activities in the Finishing Section.
Assistance and Support
- Assist Sr. Technician – Finishing in all technical activities to ensure smooth maintenance operations during shutdowns.
- Act as Sr. Technician in the absence of the Sr. Technician or whenever required by the section.
Following Standards
- Follow mechanical maintenance standards for all equipment in Workshop – Finishing.

- Comply with all relevant safety, quality, health, and environmental policies and procedures applicable to maintenance activities.

Minimum Education Qualifications
Mandatory:
- ITI in Mechanical Fitter Trade.
Required Technical Knowledge:
- Knowledge of predictive and preventive maintenance.
- Knowledge and skills in troubleshooting mechanical problems.
- Understanding of engineering drawings and hydraulic circuits.
Professional Experience
Mandatory:
- 3–5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within a steel plant as a Technician / Fitter.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of rigging and slinging activities.

- Ensure implementation of Health, Safety, and Environment practices to achieve zero accidents.
- Optimize maintenance costs related to mechanical repairs and downtime reduction.
- Support corrective actions for timely resolution of maintenance issues.
- Ensure compliance with planned maintenance systems, procedures, and techniques.
