Job summary

Grand Mercure Dubai City invites applications for a Financial Controller to lead financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control across hotel operations in Dubai. The ideal candidate will have 5–7 years in a senior finance role within a hotel, strong Excel skills, and experience with hotel finance systems and VAT regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.
• ACCA/CPA/CMA is an advantage.
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience as Financial Controller or senior Finance management in a hotel.
• Strong knowledge of hotel accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
• Proficiency in Excel and hotel finance systems.
• Good understanding of UAE financial regulations, VAT, tax requirements and accounting standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with the capacity to turn data into business insights.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills for senior management and department heads.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, departmental P&L, and monthly/quarterly/annual reports.
• Maintain accurate reporting across rooms, F&B, spa, events and other hotel operations per UAE accounting requirements.
• Manage budgeting and forecasting processes in alignment with hotel operations and business objectives.
• Prepare and assess revenue projections using occupancy, ADR and RevPAR metrics.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital and financial performance across revenue and cost centres.
• Identify opportunities for cost optimization and improved operational efficiency.
• Maintain compliance with UAE VAT, auditing standards, labour provisions and hotel policies.
• Provide senior management with financial analysis and recommendations informed by operating performance and industry trends.
• Establish and maintain robust internal controls throughout the hotel.
• Supervise, guide and develop the Finance team.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, departmental profit and loss accounts, and monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
• Maintain accurate reporting across rooms, Food and Beverage, spa, events and other hotel operations in accordance with applicable UAE accounting requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor 's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA or CMA is an advantage.
• Minimum 5-7 years of previous experience in a Financial Controller or senior Finance management role within a hotel is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of hotel accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial or accounting systems, including experience with hotel finance systems.
• Good understanding of UAE financial regulations, VAT, tax requirements and accounting standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with the capacity to interpret financial information and turn it into practical business insights.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with senior management and departmental leaders.
• Strong leadership and team-management capabilities with the ability to develop and motivate Finance colleagues.
