Job summary

Majid Al Futtaim is hiring a Finance Manager - General Ledger in Dubai to lead general ledger activities across hypermarkets and supermarkets. You will oversee journal entries, intercompany reconciliations, and the monthly/quarterly/year-end closing, ensuring compliant and timely financial reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, or a related field.
  • MBA or postgraduate qualification in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration is preferred.
  • Minimum six years of experience in finance or accounting.
  • Previous experience in a finance managerial or supervisory position.
  • Retail / supermarket experience is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and financial closing processes.
  • Experience coordinating external audits and resolving audit findings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage general ledger accounting activities across supermarket and hypermarket operations.
  • Establish controls that ensure financial records comply with company policies, Group guidelines, and international accounting standards.
  • Review ledger balances to verify that transactions are complete, accurate, and posted to the appropriate period, account, and cost centre.
  • Confirm that payments, accruals, provisions, prepayments, and adjustment entries are recorded correctly and on time.
  • Investigate unusual balances, unsupported entries, and accounting discrepancies.
  • Ensure all intercompany accounts are reconciled accurately within agreed closing schedules.
  • Coordinate the resolution of intercompany differences with related entities and finance teams.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
  • Prepare detailed closing schedules and communicate deadlines to all relevant contributors.
  • Coordinate annual balance confirmation with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules before final account closure.Monitor budget utilisation and identify expenditure that falls outside approved limits.
  • Recommend and implement corrective action where budget performance does not meet expectations.
  • Develop reporting controls that improve transparency, consistency, and accountability.
  • Coordinate external audit activities and act as a key point of contact for accounting queries.
  • Provide auditors with accurate financial information, reconciliations, schedules, and transaction evidence.
  • Assess audit observations and implement measures to resolve accounting non‑compliance.
  • Track audit action plans to ensure findings are addressed within agreed timelines.
