Majid Al Futtaim is seeking an accounting professional with FMCG and hypermarket experience to maintain accurate financial records and ensure transactions are processed according to established accounting policies and controls. The role requires strong analytical capability, attention to detail, and practical experience handling supplier accounts, bank reconciliations, invoice verification, payment processing, financial postings, and periodic reporting in a high-volume retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather, review, and verify financial data before posting transactions into the accounting system.
- Check supporting documents for completeness, accuracy, approval, and compliance with internal procedures.
- Maintain purchase ledgers and ensure supplier-related expenses are recorded under the correct accounts and cost centres.
- Monitor posted expenses against approved budgets and report material variances or unusual transactions.
- Review supplier and contractor invoices to confirm quantities, prices, tax treatment, contractual terms, and supporting documentation.
- Identify duplicate, incomplete, incorrect, or unauthorised invoices and coordinate corrections before payment.
- Process vendor and contractor payments according to approved contracts, payment schedules, and delegated authority.
- Apply advance payments, deductions, penalties, retention amounts, and other contractual adjustments accurately.
- Maintain updated supplier account records and resolve outstanding balances, unmatched entries, and payment discrepancies.
- Prepare bank reconciliations for accounts held with different banking institutions.
- Compare ledger entries with bank statements and investigate unmatched, delayed, duplicated, or incorrectly recorded transactions.
- Prepare and post approved correcting and adjusting journal entries.
- Review adjustment entries to confirm proper documentation, account coding, and financial treatment.
- Support payroll-related accounting entries and ensure payroll postings are reflected accurately in the general ledger.
- Maintain fixed asset accounting records, including additions, transfers, disposals, depreciation, and account reconciliation.
- Assist with recurring accruals, provisions, prepayments, and expense allocation entries.
- Complete assigned month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities within established deadlines.
- Confirm that required entries, reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documents are completed before ledger closure.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting statements accurately and on time.
- Produce financial schedules, ledger analyses, balance confirmations, and managerial reports.
- Support internal and external audit requirements by providing requested documents and explanations.
- Follow established financial accounting principles, internal controls, approval procedures, and record‑retention standards.
- Maintain organised financial files and protect confidential supplier, payroll, banking, and company information.
- Coordinate with procurement, commercial, payroll, treasury, operations, and finance teams to resolve transaction issues.
- Identify weaknesses in accounting workflows and recommend practical improvements that increase accuracy and efficiency.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor 's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
- Two to four years of experience in financial accounting, accounts payable, general ledger, or a similar finance role.
- Previous experience in the FMCG industry and hypermarket operations is required.
- Practical knowledge of invoice processing, purchase ledgers, supplier accounts, and vendor payments.
- Experience preparing bank reconciliations and investigating unmatched transactions.
- Understanding of general ledger accounting, journal entries, accruals, provisions, and financial closing.
- Familiarity with fixed asset accounting and payroll‑related financial postings.
- Ability to prepare accounting statements, balance schedules, and management reports.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify financial discrepancies and determine appropriate corrective action.
- High level of numerical accuracy and attention to transaction details.
- Sound understanding of financial controls, supporting documentation, and approval procedures.
- Ability to manage high transaction volumes and meet monthly and annual reporting deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard accounting or enterprise resource planning systems.
- Strong organisational and record‑management skills.
