Job summary

BeWunder in Dubai seeks a Lighting Design Engineer to plan, design, and document lighting systems for Event Production projects. You will create and maintain Vectorworks drawings and ensure accurate installation-ready documentation.

Your role includes calculating lighting needs, coordinating with audio/video/rigging, and supporting installation, commissioning and on-site delivery while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in technical planning and lighting design for live events or entertainment environments.
• Strong understanding of lighting systems, control, DMX/networking, power distribution and cabling.
• Degree or diploma in Lighting Design, Technical Production, Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of technical planning and design of lighting systems across projects from concept through delivery.
• Develop technically sound lighting solutions translating creative intent into buildable systems.
• Produce detailed 2D/3D drawing packages with fixture layouts, rigging interfaces, and power routes.
• Create and maintain lighting documentation: fixture schedules, equipment specs, schematics, patching details.
• Perform calculations to determine fixture types, positioning, electrical loads, and control architecture.
• Coordinate lighting with audio, video, rigging and other production disciplines.
• Review venue drawings and project docs to identify design parameters, interfaces, risks and constraints.
• Develop equipment schedules, scope of work, and technical requirements for suppliers.
• Balance technical requirements with project scope, budget, and delivery constraints.
• Provide lighting engineering input during tenders and pre-production to develop deliverable solutions.
• Identify design clashes and mitigation measures early in the process.
• Support installation, programming, commissioning, rehearsals and onsite delivery with troubleshooting.
