Key Responsibilities
- Review past projects and analyze cost data, estimate performance, proposal outcomes, risk factors, impacts, exposures, and commercial assumptions.
- Provide data‑driven insights that help management gain confidence in new bid estimates.
- Support decision‑making on markup levels, risk allowances, estimating assumptions, and bid strategy.
- Update and maintain benchmark indices, key performance indicators, estimating statistics, and historical project data.
- Prepare professional estimating deliverables for senior internal stakeholders, including directors, senior directors, vice presidents, and executive‑level decision makers.
- Develop, support, and improve estimating processes, procedures, work instructions, and guidelines at enterprise level.
- Assist in creating standardized estimating practices that improve consistency, accuracy, and efficiency across operating units.
- Facilitate collaboration between operating units to increase alignment across departments and estimating stakeholders.
- Support estimating initiatives such as software implementation, parametric data usage, training programs, risk evaluations, escalation models, and process enhancements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on estimating accuracy, project controls integration, data quality, and enterprise reporting.
- Analyze historical project data and current estimating trends to identify useful patterns, benchmarks, and improvement opportunities.
- Support the development and management of project historical data collection and analysis systems.
- Use Microsoft Excel and VBA to organize, analyze, automate, and present estimating and project controls data.
- Assist with estimating function reporting, business analysis, data validation, and internal presentations.
- Attend relevant conferences or industry events to build professional networks and remain updated on market trends.
- Travel for short periods domestically or internationally when required to support estimating initiative development and rollout.
- Apply technical judgment, standard procedures, and estimating precedents to solve straightforward estimating problems.
- Support a culture of continuous improvement within the EPC estimating and project controls environment.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a large Engineering, Procurement, and Construction company.
- Experience in estimating, project controls, data analytics, cost analysis, or proposal support is preferred.
- Strong estimating and project controls background.
- Highly experienced in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience using Visual Basic Analysis or VBA for Excel-based automation and analysis.
- Background in developing, managing, or improving project historical data collection and analysis systems.
- Good understanding of EPC project execution, estimating workflows, bid support, benchmark data, and project performance analysis.
- Ability to review cost data, identify trends, assess risks, and prepare clear insights for senior stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with large data sets and convert information into useful estimating intelligence.
- Good communication and presentation skills with the ability to package deliverables professionally.
- Willingness to travel domestically or internationally for short periods to support estimating initiatives.
- Strong interest in improving estimating practices within a large EPC infrastructure organization.
- Ability to work with moderate guidance while building deeper knowledge of company procedures, business drivers, customers, and enterprise estimating processes.
