Electrical Engineer – Infrastructure Works in Dubai is a Civil Engineering hiring opportunity for a qualified professional with extensive experience supervising electrical installations across roads, bridges, underpasses, and associated infrastructure. The role requires strong knowledge of UAE authority procedures, DEWA coordination, street lighting, feeder pillars, low‑voltage cable networks, lighting controls, testing, commissioning, and multidisciplinary construction interfaces. The engineer will oversee site‑based electrical activities and ensure that all installations meet approved designs, project specifications, quality procedures, and local authority requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise electrical construction activities for roads, bridges, underpasses, and associated infrastructure.
- Monitor the installation of street lighting, feeder pillars, low‑voltage cable networks, lighting control systems, and architectural lighting.
- Verify that electrical works comply with approved drawings, specifications, contract requirements, and UAE authority regulations.
- Develop and apply inspection and testing procedures in accordance with the project quality plan.
- Review electrical shop drawings and confirm coordination with structural, civil, utility, and mechanical disciplines.
- Evaluate material submittals, technical data sheets, samples, and manufacturer documentation before approval.
- Review method statements and inspection and test plans for electrical construction activities.
- Witness testing, commissioning, energization, and functional verification of electrical systems.
- Confirm that test results comply with project specifications and authority acceptance requirements.
- Oversee the integration of electrical systems with bridge structural components and infrastructure elements.
- Coordinate embedded conduits, cable routes, sleeves, supports, access points, and service corridors before related civil works proceed.
- Liaise with DEWA regarding supply connections, technical inspections, energization, and no‑objection certificate approvals.
- Coordinate with government authorities, utility providers, and service agencies to obtain timely approvals.
- Participate in meetings addressing utility diversions, protection works, service connections, and construction interfaces.
- Work closely with civil, structural, and mechanical teams to coordinate electrical installation requirements.
- Ensure electrical activities follow the approved construction sequence and align with civil and structural schedules.
- Communicate with the design office regarding technical queries, design clarifications, material reviews, and modifications.
- Review contractor submissions and provide clear technical comments within the required review period.
- Maintain updated inspection records, test results, progress information, and approval documentation.
- Prepare technical input for daily and weekly progress reports.
- Highlight delayed approvals, interface conflicts, technical risks, and potential programme impacts.
- Support the preparation and closure of punch lists for incomplete or non‑compliant electrical works.
- Assist with as‑built drawings, testing records, operation manuals, authority approvals, and final handover documents.
- Guide electrical inspectors and maintain consistent inspection standards across work locations.
- Identify emerging technical issues and recommend practical solutions before they result in delay or rework.
- Issue site observations or non‑conformance reports when installations do not meet approved requirements.
- Follow up corrective actions and confirm satisfactory closure before acceptance.
- Promote safety awareness and verify compliance with health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Attend in‑person Day1 onboarding at an AECOM office as a condition of employment.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor of Engineering or Master of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience in the UAE.
- Strong experience supervising electrical systems on roads, bridges, underpasses, highways, or major infrastructure projects.
- Essential knowledge of UAE authority procedures, technical standards, approval processes, and regulations.
- Practical experience coordinating with DEWA and other utility or government authorities.
- Strong knowledge of street lighting, feeder pillars, low‑voltage distribution, lighting controls, and architectural lighting.
- Experience reviewing shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and inspection and test plans.
- Familiarity with electrical testing, commissioning, energization, and project handover procedures.
- Ability to interpret single‑line diagrams, cable schedules, technical specifications, and construction drawings.
- Understanding of electrical interfaces with bridge structures, roads, utilities, drainage, and civil works.
- Experience supervising inspectors and coordinating multidisciplinary site personnel.
- Strong quality control knowledge, including non‑conformance management and corrective action tracking.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to explain technical matters clearly to clients, contractors, authorities, and project teams.
