Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for road utilities in Dubai, UAE. You will supervise electrical networks for road and infrastructure projects, coordinating with DEWA, RTA, and telecom authorities, and ensuring safety and quality during installation, testing and handover.

Role Context

Based within AECOM 's Transportation business line for the Middle East and Africa, this role provides senior electrical supervision throughout infrastructure construction. The engineer will coordinate site execution with civil and mechanical disciplines, verify contractor compliance and facilitate approvals involving DEWA, RTA, Dubai Municipality and telecommunications authorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct the inspection and supervision of electrical infrastructure works.
  • Oversee LV-HV networks, power distribution and street-lighting installations.
  • Monitor traffic-signal connections, telecom ducts and associated systems.
  • Examine electrical shop drawings for technical and contractual compliance.
  • Assess material submissions and contractor method statements.
  • Provide review comments and recommendations for approval.
  • Verify compliance with DEWA, Etisalat, du, RTA and Dubai Municipality requirements.
  • Coordinate electrical construction with civil and mechanical activities.
  • Monitor the quality of installation, testing and commissioning work.
  • Inspect cable routes, trenches, ducts and electrical manholes.
  • Witness insulation resistance, continuity and load tests.
  • Compare as-built drawings with verified field conditions.
  • Work with site inspectors to confirm completed installations.
  • Attend technical meetings, authority inspections and coordination workshops.
  • Monitor contractor progress against approved construction schedules.
  • Ensure electrical activities comply with HSE requirements.
  • Document non-conforming work and require suitable corrective action.
  • Follow up until identified quality issues are properly resolved.
  • Review no-objection certificate drawings and authority submissions.
  • Track outstanding approvals that could affect project delivery.
  • Assist the Resident Engineer with contractor queries and technical assessments.
  • Review proposed electrical design changes.
  • Prepare concise daily and weekly progress reports.
  • Record delays, inspections and completed construction activities.
  • Maintain traceable documentation for inspections, testing and approvals.
  • Support final inspections and electrical utility handovers.
  • Plan shutdowns affecting existing electrical services.
  • Ensure existing systems are safely reconnected after completion.
  • Review final as-built records during project closeout.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors and authority representatives.
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor 's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
  • At least 15 years of electrical construction-supervision experience.
  • Substantial experience with UAE roads and infrastructure projects.
  • Proven supervision of street-lighting and traffic-signal installations.
  • Experience with power distribution and utility network construction.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical testing and commissioning procedures.
  • Familiarity with UAE electrical regulations and approval processes.
  • Working knowledge of DEWA, ADDC and RTA requirements.
  • Ability to assess electrical shop drawings and material submissions.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, consultants and authorities.
