Job summary

Zynetic is delivering the Roads & Transport Authority's EV charging hubs across Dubai with 500 charging points and dedicated DEWA substation at each site. The in-house electrical authority will own regulatory approvals, direct consultants and contractors, and lead commissioning and post-live maintenance.

Key responsibilities include obtaining DEWA approvals, owning LV design, coordinating inspections and DM/SIRA/RTA approvals, and managing commissioning with OEMs.

Qualifications

• Dubai Municipality registration — DM engineer registration number
• SOE membership in Electrical Engineering
• Degree — BEng Electrical MOFA attested with MoE equivalency
• 5+ years in the UAE in electrical design, approvals and commissioning
• DEWA track record — experience taking DEWA submissions through to approval
• LV design, inspection coordination and hands-on commissioning
• English fluency and a valid UAE driving license

Responsibilities

• Own DEWA compliance & approvals across eleven sites and drive them to approval
• Own LV design for every hub: distribution boards, SMDBs, protection and cable sizing
• Coordinate inspections and close out observations; secure energisation
• Coordinate approvals (DM, Dubai Civil Defence, SIRA, RTA) and maintain live approvals register
• Brief, direct, and manage engineering consultants and contractors; review deliverables and chair progress meetings
• Own LV commissioning and witness contractor testing; manage charger commissioning with OEM to handover
• Head the maintenance function post-live and lead the site technician team

Job description

Zynetic is delivering the Roads & Transport Authority's EV charging hubs at eleven locations across Dubai with 500 Charging Points, Megawatt Chargers and a dedicated DEWA substation at every site.

The Role

You are Zynetic's in-house electrical authority — owner of every regulatory approval on the programme, and the client-side lead who directs the appointed consultants and contractors.

• DEWA compliance & approvals — own load applications, single-line diagrams and LV design submissions across all eleven sites, and drive them to approval. You are accountable for the approval date, not the submission date.
• LV design approval — own the LV design for every hub: distribution boards, SMDBs, protection and discrimination, cable sizing, earthing and bonding. Review and approve consultant output.
• Inspection coordination — prepare sites for DEWA inspections, close out observations, secure energisation.
• Approval coordination — run DM, Dubai Civil Defence, SIRA and RTA approvals in parallel; maintain a live register of what is approved and what each item blocks.
• Consultants & contractors — brief, direct and hold to account the appointed engineering consultancy and all contractors. Set the design brief, review and approve their deliverables, chase submissions, supervise site works, chair technical progress meetings, and assess variations and claims.
• LV commissioning — own testing and commissioning, witness and accept contractor testing, manage charger commissioning with the OEM through to handover.
• Maintenance — head the maintenance function once hubs are live, delivering the contractual 24-hour repair KPI, and lead the site technician team.

ESSENTIAL

• Dubai Municipality registration — currently registered as an Electrical Engineer under the Dubai Engineering Qualification System (DEQ), with a valid DM engineer registration number. Quote it in your application.
• Society of Engineers – UAE — valid SOE membership in Electrical Engineering.
• Degree — BEng Electrical, MOFA attested, with MoE equivalency if awarded outside the UAE.
• 5+ years in the UAE in electrical design, approvals and commissioning.
• DEWA track record — personal experience taking DEWA submissions through to approval. Be ready to name projects, loads and timelines.
• LV design, inspection coordination and hands-on commissioning experience.
• English fluency and a valid UAE driving license.

A PLUS

EV charging experience is welcome but not required — if you have a strong DEWA approvals and LV commissioning background from any sector, we will teach you the EV specifics. Also useful: exposure to 11 kV distribution and package substations; BS 7671 and IEC 60364 / 61439 / 61851; SIRA or DCD approvals; Arabic; prior delivery for a Dubai government authority.
