Role Context The Electrical Design Engineer will translate project electrical requirements into factory-ready designs for prefabricated and modular POD systems. Unlike conventional building services design, this position must consider not only electrical performance but also production sequencing, modular interfaces, transportation constraints, assembly methods, installation tolerances, and final site connections. The role has a direct impact on manufacturing efficiency, build quality, commissioning readiness, and site productivity by resolving coordination issues before fabrication begins and ensuring electrical systems integrate smoothly with architectural, structural, and other MEP disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Design electrical systems for prefabricated and modular POD applications.
- Develop electrical layouts for lighting, power, containment, controls, equipment connections, and related services.
- Prepare technical drawings, schematics, schedules, and supporting design documentation.
- Ensure electrical designs are suitable for factory manufacture, assembly, transportation, and site installation.
- Coordinate electrical requirements with architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, and other MEP disciplines.
- Work closely with BIM teams to maintain coordinated multidisciplinary models.
- Identify design clashes and resolve conflicts before drawings are released for production.
- Review project requirements, specifications, design criteria, and authority standards before progressing design work.
- Ensure compliance with UAE electrical codes and applicable local regulations.
- Apply DEWA requirements where relevant to project electrical systems.
- Maintain alignment with approved project specifications and technical standards.
- Prepare detailed electrical information required for factory production and installation teams.
- Develop practical connection and interface details between POD systems and site infrastructure.
- Consider access, maintainability, cable routing, equipment positioning, and installation sequence during design development.
- Review electrical shop drawings for technical accuracy and coordination.
- Review material submittals and verify compliance with project requirements.
- Assess proposed electrical equipment, devices, components, and materials for suitability.
- Coordinate with production teams to ensure designs can be manufactured efficiently.
- Provide technical clarification to factory personnel when design queries arise.
- Incorporate approved production feedback into electrical drawings and documentation.
- Coordinate with site and project teams regarding installation requirements and interface conditions.
- Support resolution of design-related issues identified during fabrication or installation.
- Participate in multidisciplinary design and BIM coordination meetings.
- Track and incorporate approved design changes and revisions.
- Ensure drawing revisions are properly reflected across related project documents.
- Maintain accurate design records, drawing registers, and revision documentation.
- Support prototype development and first-production POD reviews where required.
- Assist with testing and inspection activities during factory production.
- Support electrical testing during site installation.
- Participate in commissioning activities where required.
- Assist with final handover documentation and closeout requirements.
- Review completed installations against approved design intent.
- Support preparation of as-built electrical information.
- Identify opportunities to simplify electrical design without compromising performance or compliance.
- Contribute to design standardization for repeated modular units.
- Support value engineering and production optimization initiatives.
- Coordinate with procurement and material teams where electrical component availability affects design or production.
- Maintain close communication with BIM, production, site, project, and engineering teams throughout project execution.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor 's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in electrical design.
