Context
The EHS Officer – Fulfillment Safety will support workplace health and safety activities across a busy fulfillment center environment. The role focuses on risk prevention, safety audits, incident response, emergency readiness, training coordination, PPE control, Permit to Work review, and safety action tracking.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead site risk assessments for existing workflows, new activities, equipment changes, and operational process updates.
- Establish and maintain the site WHS training matrix to ensure required safety, fire fighting, and first aid training is completed.
- Support implementation of site‑specific WHS standards, safety procedures, objectives, and improvement programs.
- Promote daily safety awareness by providing WHS content, reminders, and risk‑prevention messages during shift briefings.
- Carry out regular site safety audits to identify unsafe conditions, non‑compliant equipment, process gaps, and workplace hazards.
- Partner with operations teams to implement practical solutions that remove risk exposure and reduce the chance of injury.
- Attend workplace incidents and occupational injury cases on site, ensuring timely escalation, documentation, and follow‑up.
- Guide area managers on incident investigations, Gensuite reporting, lesson‑learned communication, and corrective action closure.
- Assist operations teams with Gensuite follow‑up sheets, CAPA creation, action ownership, and progress tracking.
- Audit record‑keeping practices and ensure Gensuite entries comply with global WHS standards and local safety regulations.
- Monitor PPE inventory at site level and coordinate with procurement for timely ordering and replenishment.
- Support weekly Key Safety Requirement audits through assignment monitoring, evidence review, and action follow‑up.
- Ensure basic fire fighting training and first aid training requirements are tracked and completed.
- Conduct daily Powered Industrial Tool and trailer dock release inspections and communicate any findings to site teams.
- Monitor the Daily Action Tracking System and support closure of outstanding safety actions.
- Participate in site management safety walks and provide clear insight into unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and priority risks.
- Provide daily updates to WHS leadership on objectives, incidents, KSR progress, ATS items, network actions, and open safety matters.
- Prepare WHS committee meeting agendas, write meeting minutes, create ATS actions, and track agreed follow‑ups.
- Review and sign off daily Permit to Work activities according to site requirements.
- Lead WHS‑related procurement follow‑up for safety materials, equipment, and operational requirements.
- Prepare emergency response plans and support site readiness for emergency situations.
- Manage emergency drill planning, training coordination, execution, documentation, and record keeping.
- Establish and monitor heat index controls and support heat‑stress prevention activities when required.
- Respond to site‑specific safety requests, unplanned events, operational changes, and special activities.
- Conduct daily and weekly WHS checks including hazardous waste room inspections, spill kit inspections, first aid room checks, and related audits.
Ideal Profile
- Experience in workplace health and safety, EHS operations, WHS coordination, fulfillment center safety, warehouse safety, logistics safety, or operational safety support.
- Technical background or exposure in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics and Communication, Instrumentation and Controls, or a similar field.
- Experience in data analysis with the ability to interpret information, identify trends, and use insights to support safety decisions.
- Practical understanding of safety audits, incident investigation, corrective action tracking, Permit to Work reviews, emergency planning, and compliance documentation.
- Familiarity with Gensuite, CAPA, KSR audits, ATS monitoring, PPE inventory control, and safety training tracking is an advantage.
- Ability to work with operations leaders, area managers, associates, procurement teams, and WHS leadership in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail when reviewing records, audit findings, safety actions, and incident documentation.
- Good communication skills with the ability to explain safety expectations clearly during briefings, investigations, and management updates.
- Proactive approach to hazard identification, risk reduction, follow‑up, and safety culture improvement.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is preferred.
- Calm and practical working style with the ability to respond effectively to incidents, urgent requests, and unplanned operational events.
