Role Context
The WHS Coordinator - Safety Operations will support day-to-day workplace health and safety activities within a fulfillment center environment. The role focuses on risk prevention, safety training, incident follow-up, emergency preparedness, audit readiness, PPE coordination, compliance tracking, and continuous improvement of site-level WHS standards. The position has a direct impact on employee wellbeing, operational stability, regulatory alignment, and the creation of a safe, motivated, and productive workplace.
Responsibilities
- Lead site risk assessments for current operations, new processes, equipment changes, and planned activities.
- Establish and maintain the site WHS training matrix to ensure employees complete required health, safety, fire fighting, and first aid training.
- Support implementation of site-specific WHS standards, safety guidelines, objectives, and improvement programs.
- Promote a safe working culture by sharing daily WHS updates, safety reminders, and practical risk-awareness content during shift briefings.
- Conduct frequent safety audits to identify unsafe conditions, non-compliant equipment, process gaps, and workplace hazards.
- Work closely with operations teams to implement corrective actions that reduce exposure to risk and prevent injuries.
- Attend site incidents and occupational injury cases while supporting proper documentation, escalation, and immediate response actions.
- Guide area managers in incident investigation, Gensuite reporting, lesson-learned communication, and corrective action follow-up.
- Assist operations teams with Gensuite follow-up sheets, CAPA creation, and timely closure of assigned safety actions.
- Audit record-keeping practices and ensure Gensuite entries align with global WHS expectations and local regulatory requirements.
- Monitor PPE inventory at site level and coordinate with procurement teams for timely replenishment and order placement.
- Support weekly Key Safety Requirement audits, assignment tracking, compliance monitoring, and action completion.
- Conduct daily Powered Industrial Tool and trailer dock release inspections and communicate findings to relevant teams.
- Monitor the Daily Action Tracking System and support closure of open safety actions across the site.
- Participate in management safety walks and provide clear insight into unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and improvement priorities.
- Prepare daily updates for WHS leadership covering objectives, incidents, audit findings, KSR status, ATS actions, and network-level safety items.
- Coordinate WHS committee meeting agendas, meeting minutes, action tracking, and follow-up documentation.
- Review and sign off daily Permit to Work activities in line with site safety procedures.
- Lead WHS-related procurement requests and follow up with relevant internal stakeholders.
- Prepare emergency response plans and support their implementation across the site.
- Manage emergency drill planning, employee participation, training coordination, and record preparation.
- Monitor heat index requirements and support heat-stress prevention measures when required.
- Respond to site-specific safety requests, unplanned activities, operational changes, and special workplace events.
- Conduct daily and weekly WHS checks including hazardous waste room inspection, spill kit inspection, first aid room review, and related safety audits.
Ideal Profile
- Experience in workplace health and safety, EHS coordination, fulfillment center safety, warehouse safety, logistics safety, or operational safety support.
- Background in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics and Communication, Instrumentation and Controls, or a related technical discipline.
- Ability to interpret safety data, identify trends, and use insights to support decision-making and risk reduction.
- Practical understanding of incident investigation, corrective action tracking, audit documentation, and site safety compliance.
- Experience working with operational teams in a fast-paced environment where safety, productivity, and compliance must be balanced carefully.
- Familiarity with safety management systems, Gensuite, CAPA tracking, Permit to Work processes, emergency response planning, and PPE control is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify unsafe practices, document findings, and follow through until actions are closed.
- Good communication skills with the confidence to guide area managers, brief employees, and escalate safety concerns clearly.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining close coordination with WHS leadership, operations, procurement, and site management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is preferred.
