Sofitel Dubai The Palm is seeking a proactive Maintenance Engineer to respond to guest calls, prioritise occupied rooms, and perform first‑line repairs across electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and carpentry. You will monitor plant rooms, chillers, AHUs/FCUs, boilers, pumps, pools, and report issues with clear handovers.

You will join the emergency response team, follow safety standards, supervise contractors, and ensure accurate logs.

Qualifications

• Diploma or technical certificate in electrical, mechanical or HVAC engineering, or equivalent trade qualification.
• Minimum 3 years' multi‑skilled maintenance experience, ideally in a 5‑star hotel or resort.
• Practical knowledge of electrical systems (LV), plumbing, HVAC and building management systems.
• Familiarity with fire safety systems and emergency procedures.
• Good spoken and written English.
• Computer literate; able to use the maintenance system and shift logs.

Responsabilités

• Respond promptly to guest calls and departmental work orders; prioritize guest-occupied rooms and villas.
• Carry out first-line repairs across trades: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, minor carpentry, locks and general maintenance.
• Perform scheduled plant room rounds, recording readings for chillers, AHUs/FCUs, boilers, pumps, water tanks, pools and generators.
• Monitor the BMS and fire alarm panel; act immediately on alarms and elevate to the Duty Engineer as needed.
• Act as a member of the emergency response team: fire, flooding, power failure, lift entrapment and gas leaks.
• Check public areas, lighting, signage and pool and beach equipment during rounds; fix or report defects.
• Carry out preventive maintenance tasks assigned by the supervisor during quieter periods.
• Issue and follow permit‑to‑work and lock-out/tag-out procedures; supervise contractors working during the shift.
• Complete the shift log and give a clear handover to the next shift, including open jobs and recurring issues.
• Record energy and water meter readings and support Planet 21 sustainability actions.
• Be courteous and discreet with guests when working in rooms and public areas.
• Follow Health & Safety, Dubai Civil Defence and Accor standards, and keep tools and the workshop clean.
