Role Context The Design Technology Teacher - Practical Innovation will guide students through the complete design process, from research and concept development to prototyping, testing and evaluation. Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging Design Technology lessons aligned with the British curriculum.

  • Guide learners through research, specification writing, concept generation and product evaluation.

  • Demonstrate the safe and accurate use of workshop tools, machinery and equipment.
  • Maintain strict health and safety standards during all practical activities.
  • Prepare workshops, materials, components and digital resources before lessons.
  • Teach students to select suitable materials according to performance, cost and sustainability.
  • Integrate computer-aided design and digital manufacturing into relevant projects.
  • Encourage responsible use of resources and environmentally conscious design decisions.
  • Create practical challenges that strengthen creativity, resilience and problem-solving.
  • Adapt lesson content for students with different abilities and learning requirements.
  • Provide structured support for learners who need additional guidance.
