GEMS Wellington Academy, Al Khail in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is seeking an experienced Design Technology Teacher to join the British curriculum team from January 2027. The role blends workshop-based learning with theory, requiring strong knowledge of design processes, CAD, materials, and health and safety.

You will plan and deliver lessons aligned with England's National Curriculum, assess portfolios, support GCSE/A‑Level readiness, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to exhibitions

Qualifications

• Experience teaching National Curriculum of England.
• Strong knowledge of practical and theoretical elements of Design Technology.
• Commitment to evidence-informed teaching and safeguarding responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality Design Technology lessons aligned with the National Curriculum of England.
• Teach students to investigate design problems, generate ideas, develop specifications, and produce practical solutions.
• Develop students' understanding of materials, processes, manufacturing methods, and product design principles.
• Guide students in selecting appropriate tools, equipment, and techniques for practical projects.
• Demonstrate safe workshop procedures and ensure health and safety expectations are followed.
• Apply evidence-informed teaching strategies to improve knowledge retention and application.
• Support students in producing design documentation, annotated concepts, and technical drawings.
• Integrate CAD and digital design where appropriate to curriculum requirements.
• Assess design portfolios and practical work against curriculum criteria.
• Prepare learners for GCSE/A-Level or other relevant assessments.
