Job summary

GEMS Wellington Academy, Al Khail in Dubai seeks an experienced Art Teacher to deliver a British-curriculum program aligned with the National Curriculum of England. The role emphasizes practical studio work, assessment-driven progress and high academic expectations in a selective, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE or equivalent recognised teaching qualification in Art.
• Minimum two years of experience teaching the National Curriculum of England.
• Experience delivering Art within a British curriculum setting.
• Strong practical and theoretical knowledge across visual art disciplines.
• Ability to motivate and develop students' artistic skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Art lessons aligned with the National Curriculum of England and relevant examination requirements.
• Develop students' skills in drawing, painting, mixed media, design, composition and other visual art techniques.
• Teach students to research, generate, refine and communicate creative ideas through sketchbooks, practical work and completed outcomes.
• Introduce learners to artists, designers, movements, cultural influences and contemporary visual practice.
• Build students' understanding of colour, form, texture, line, tone and visual communication.
• Prepare students for GCSE, A-Level or other applicable Art assessments where relevant.
• Establish clear progression in technical ability, creative thinking and critical analysis across the curriculum.
• Use formative and summative assessment to monitor progress and identify individual development needs.
