Job summary

Taleo in the United Arab Emirates is seeking a Design Senior Engineer to lead MEP design and engineering activities for 400 kV substation projects, from design through commissioning, ensuring compliance with UAE regulations and international standards. You will coordinate with multiple disciplines to deliver on schedule.

The role requires 8–12 years of relevant experience in HV substation projects and a Bachelor's degree in engineering.

Qualifications

• Experience in high-voltage substation projects (400 kV / 220 kV).
• UAE/GCC project experience and familiarity with local authority requirements.

Description

• Lead MEP design and engineering activities for 400 kV substation projects from design through construction and commissioning.
• Prepare and review MEP calculations, drawings, specifications, BOQs, equipment schedules, and technical reports.
• Design and review HVAC, ventilation, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, and other building services systems.
• Ensure designs comply with project specifications, client requirements, UAE regulations, and applicable international standards.
• Coordinate MEP designs with civil, structural, electrical, protection & control, telecom, and other disciplines.
• Review and resolve design clashes, technical interfaces, RFIs, and engineering issues.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams on technical matters and design approvals.
• Review vendor technical submissions, shop drawings, material submittals, and technical proposals.
• Provide technical support to construction, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
• Monitor engineering deliverables and ensure timely completion in line with project schedules.
• Review the work of junior engineers and provide technical guidance and support.
• Identify technical risks and support value engineering, design optimization, quality, and cost-efficiency initiatives.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years of relevant engineering/design experience, preferably within power transmission, substations, EPC, or infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience in high-voltage substation projects, preferably 400 kV / 220 kV.
• Experience in MEP/building services design for substations, power plants, or major infrastructure facilities.
• Previous experience working with EPC contractors, consultants, utilities, and international clients is preferred.
• Experience in UAE/GCC projects and familiarity with local authority requirements is highly desirable.
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Professional engineering certification is preferred.
• Relevant training/certification in HVAC, fire protection, BIM, or building services engineering is an advantage.
