Job summary

Parsons is seeking a Design Interface Manager for a rail infrastructure project in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The role involves developing an Interface Management Plan and coordinating design teams to ensure all interfaces are managed effectively.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, at least 10 years of experience in relevant fields, and strong skills in design integration and interface management. This is a full-time position.

Design Interface Manager - Rail

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Interface Management Plan and Design Integration Strategy for a major rail infrastructure project.
• Identify, define, track, and manage design interfaces across civil, structural, rail systems, stations, operations, airport integration, and specialist system disciplines.
• Establish, maintain, and update the project interface register to ensure each interface is recorded, assigned, coordinated, monitored, and resolved.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams to deliver integrated, consistent, compliant, and buildable design outputs.
• Ensure effective integration between infrastructure assets, stations, rail systems, operational environments, airport interfaces, landside connections, and terminal access points.
• Manage interfaces involving airport systems, Baggage Handling Systems, passenger flow, terminal access, intermodal connections, and rail station planning.
• Facilitate interface workshops, technical coordination meetings, design reviews, and stakeholder sessions with project teams, contractors, airport stakeholders, authorities, and operators.
• Manage interface agreements, responsibilities, technical deliverables, action owners, and resolution timelines between all involved parties.
• Coordinate with airport operators, specialist system providers, rail operations teams, infrastructure designers, and external stakeholders to align interface requirements.
• Ensure design outputs remain aligned with project requirements, programme milestones, budget expectations, tender documentation, and delivery objectives.
• Support Systems Engineering processes, including requirements flow-down, interface definition, verification planning, and design assurance.
• Work with Configuration and Requirements teams to maintain interface traceability, change control, and documentation consistency.
• Identify and manage interface risks linked to airport operations, BHS integration, passenger movement, rail operations, station design, and construction sequencing.
• Develop mitigation strategies for unresolved interfaces, technical clashes, operational constraints, design gaps, and stakeholder alignment issues.
• Lead design reviews to ensure airport interfaces, BHS connections, civil works, station layouts, operational requirements, and systems interfaces are fully addressed.
• Coordinate with authorities, operators, contractors, consultants, and external stakeholders to support design approvals and technical alignment.
• Monitor design progress and follow up on interface issues to ensure timely resolution before construction or tender milestones are affected.
• Support construction and delivery teams by providing clear interface definitions, responsibility matrices, and implementation guidance during project execution.

Ideal Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline from a recognized university.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in rail projects, rail operations, large-scale infrastructure, or complex transportation systems.
• Proven background in design integration and interface management on major rail, metro, airport-connected, or multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
• Strong experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and managing complex interfaces between civil, structural, rail systems, stations, operations, and specialist systems.
• Good understanding of rail systems, civil infrastructure, station environments, operational planning, design development stages, and tender documentation.
• Experience in airport integration projects, including terminal operations, landside access, intermodal transport systems, and stakeholder coordination.
• Exposure to Baggage Handling Systems and their interfaces with rail infrastructure, station layouts, passenger flow, and airport operations is an advantage.
• Experience with Systems Engineering processes, interface management methodologies, requirements flow-down, configuration control, and interface traceability.
• Skilled in managing interface registers, design coordination processes, interface agreements, action logs, and stakeholder alignment activities.
• Professional certification or membership in a relevant engineering or project management institute is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to resolve technical and coordination challenges across multiple parties.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with clients, project teams, authorities, contractors, operators, and specialist providers.
• Ability to work effectively in a multi‑organizational environment while supporting a proactive, collaborative, and delivery‑focused project culture.
