What You 'll Be Doing
- Develop and implement the project Interface Management Plan and Design Integration Strategy.
- Identify, define, and manage interfaces across civil, structural, rail systems, stations, and operational disciplines.
- Establish and maintain the interface register, ensuring identified interfaces are tracked through coordination and resolution.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams to achieve integrated and consistent design outputs.
- Manage integration between infrastructure, stations, rail systems, and operational environments.
- Coordinate airport interfaces, including landside and terminal integration.
- Manage interfaces with airport systems involving Baggage Handling Systems, passenger flows, terminal access, and intermodal connections.
- Facilitate interface workshops and multidisciplinary coordination meetings.
- Coordinate with project teams, contractors, airport stakeholders, authorities, operators, and specialist system providers.
- Establish and manage interface agreements, responsibilities, and associated deliverables.
- Monitor design outputs against project requirements, programme, and budget.
- Track design progress and facilitate timely resolution of interface issues.
Rail and Airport Integration
The Design Integration and Interface Manager will provide a central coordination point for technical interfaces between railway infrastructure and the wider airport environment. This includes ensuring that station and rail solutions are properly coordinated with terminal operations, landside environments, passenger movements, specialist airport systems, and intermodal transport connections. The role will coordinate interfaces involving Baggage Handling Systems where applicable, ensuring relevant physical, functional, and operational requirements are addressed during design development.
Systems Engineering and Interface Control
- Support Systems Engineering processes, including requirements flow-down and interface definition.
- Coordinate with Configuration and Requirements teams to maintain interface traceability.
- Maintain visibility of technical responsibilities and dependencies between disciplines and organizations.
- Identify interface risks and establish appropriate mitigation measures.
- Address risks associated with airport operations and Baggage Handling Systems integration.
- Lead design reviews to confirm that multidisciplinary interfaces are identified, coordinated, and resolved.
- Maintain alignment between interface requirements and project design development.
- Support clear transition of interface requirements into construction and implementation activities.
Stakeholder and Design Coordination
The position requires close collaboration across a multi-organizational project environment. Interface workshops and technical reviews will bring together designers, contractors, airport stakeholders, operators, authorities, specialist providers, and project delivery teams to resolve dependencies and maintain coordinated design development. The Design Integration and Interface Manager will also coordinate with authorities, operators, and external stakeholders where approvals or technical alignment are required.
Construction and Delivery Support
Support construction and delivery teams by ensuring interface requirements, responsibilities, and design intent remain clear during implementation. Monitor unresolved interface matters that could affect construction or systems delivery and coordinate with relevant parties to progress solutions. The role will help maintain continuity between design integration activities and the physical delivery of railway, station, airport, and associated infrastructure systems.
What Required Skills You 'll Bring
- Bachelor 's degree in Engineering or a related field from a recognized university.
- 10 years of relevant experience in rail projects and-or rail operations.
- GCC or international rail experience is preferred.
- Proven experience in design integration and interface management on large-scale rail or infrastructure projects.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and complex technical interfaces.
- Good understanding of rail systems, civil infrastructure, stations, and operational interfaces.
- Experience with airport integration projects, including coordination with terminal operations and intermodal transport systems.
- Experience with Systems Engineering processes and interface management methodologies.
- Experience managing interface registers, multidisciplinary coordination processes, and stakeholder alignment.
- Strong knowledge of design development stages and tender documentation.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capability.
- Professional certification or membership in a relevant institution is advantageous.
