Client of Salt is seeking a Deployment Architect to lead the technical presales process for cybersecurity defence and national-security solutions. This role sits between sales, product engineering and delivery, translating customer requirements into viable designs and ensuring clarity for delivery teams.

The ideal candidate has a hands-on technical background and strong communication, with experience in presales or solution consulting to bridge technical and commercial discussions.

Qualifications

• Experience in technical presales, solution consulting, or deployment/solution architecture.
• Direct customer engagement in a consulting or systems-integrator context.
• Hands-on engineering, delivery, or infrastructure experience.
• Ability to translate complex requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Experience bridging sales discussions with product and delivery teams.
• Experience leading discovery, technical presentations and solution-design sessions.
• Proven track record running POCs or proof-of-value engagements.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery sessions with customers across cybersecurity defence and national security.
• Translate customer requirements into clear technical and operational requirements for product and engineering teams.
• Serve as the technical bridge between customers, sales, product and delivery.
• Support opportunities from discovery through solution design validation and handover.
• Develop solution architectures, technical proposals, presentations and deployment approaches.
• Run product demonstrations, POCs and proof-of-value engagements.
• Define scope, success criteria and technical requirements for POCs.
• Lead customer presentations and technical follow-up meetings.
• Assess feasibility and identify risks or dependencies for proposed solutions.
• Produce clear handover documentation covering scope, architecture and expectations.
• Contribute customer requirements and market insight to the product roadmap.
• Develop reusable presales materials, reference architectures and POC frameworks.

You will understand customers technical and operational requirements, translate them into viable solution designs and ensure the product and delivery teams have the clarity needed to implement them successfully. We are looking for someone already working in presales or solution consulting who combines strong communication skills with genuine technical depth. Although this is no longer a day-to-day engineering position, your credibility should come from a previous hands‑on technical background.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery sessions with customers across cybersecurity defence and national security
• Understand customer requirements at both a technical and operational level
• Translate customer needs into clear requirements for product and engineering teams
• Act as the technical bridge between customers sales product and delivery
• Support opportunities from initial discovery through solution design validation and handover
• Develop solution architectures technical proposals presentations and deployment approaches
• Run product demonstrations proofs of concept and proof-of-value engagements
• Define the scope success criteria and technical requirements for POCs
• Lead customer presentations and technical follow-up meetings
• Assess the technical feasibility of customer requirements and identify risks or dependencies
• Ensure proposed solutions can be implemented successfully by the delivery team

Required experience

• Experience in technical presales solution consulting deployment architecture or solution architecture
• A consulting or systems-integrator background with direct customer engagement
• Previous hands‑on experience across systems engineering infrastructure cybersecurity or technical delivery
• Ability to translate complex customer requirements into practical technical solutions
• Experience bridging commercial sales conversations with product and delivery teams
• Experience leading discovery workshops technical presentations and solution-design sessions
• Practical experience running POCs proof‑of‑value engagements or technical evaluations
• Strong technical knowledge across Linux servers networking storage security or on‑premises infrastructure
• Ability to learn and confidently present unfamiliar technologies quickly
• Experience producing technical proposals architecture documentation and delivery handovers
• Confidence engaging with technical specialists and senior decision‑makers

The right personYou will already be operating in technical presales or solution consulting, with credibility grounded in previous hands‑on engineering or delivery experience. You must be comfortable moving between customer discovery, technical solutioning, product discussions and delivery planning. You will know how to ask the right questions challenge requirements where necessary and translate complex customer needs into clear actions for technical teams. This is a growing all‑hands‑on‑deck environment so adaptability is essential. You must be able to learn new technology quickly work with limited structure and take ownership from the first technical conversation through to delivery handover.
