Role Context
The Demand Planner will manage demand forecasting and inventory replenishment for talabat Mart stores. The position will analyse stock movement, purchasing patterns, supplier lead times, minimum order quantities, and store-level demand to determine the appropriate ordering parameters. The role directly influences product availability, inventory investment, waste reduction, customer experience, and the operational performance of talabat's rapid grocery delivery network.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse current inventory levels and determine appropriate replenishment requirements for each store.
- Monitor stock movements, inventory adjustments, product availability, and unusual demand patterns daily.
- Minimize out-of-stock and overstock positions through accurate forecasting and parameter management.
- Maintain replenishment model settings within inventory and ordering systems.
- Update supplier lead times, reorder points, economic order quantities, and minimum order quantities.
- Prepare short-term and medium-term demand forecasts by product, category, and store.
- Initiate replenishment orders and monitor their progress through delivery and receipt.
- Dispatch purchase orders to suppliers and maintain accurate tracking records.
- Coordinate inventory planning activities with Category Managers.
- Review promotional plans, seasonal trends, new product launches, and commercial activities when preparing forecasts.
- Analyse forecast accuracy and identify the causes of significant demand variations.
- Prepare timely inventory, purchasing, stock availability, and demand planning reports.
- Maintain accurate records of in-stock positions, open orders, expected receipts, and inventory exposure.
- Liaise with suppliers to improve collaborative forecasting, planning, and replenishment.
- Follow up on delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate supplier deliveries.
- Identify slow-moving, excess, and at-risk inventory and recommend corrective actions.
- Support decisions related to stock transfers, order adjustments, and inventory rebalancing.
- Collaborate with commercial, category, supply chain, store operations, and finance teams.
- Escalate inventory risks and supply constraints with clear evidence and recommended actions.
- Improve demand planning tools, reports, processes, and forecasting methods.
- Ensure replenishment decisions balance availability, working capital, waste, and operational capacity.
- Maintain structured and accurate demand planning documentation.
Ideal Profile
- Minimum 4 years of professional demand planning experience.
- Previous experience in grocery, retail, e-commerce, quick commerce, or fast-moving consumer goods is preferred.
- Strong understanding of demand forecasting and inventory replenishment.
- Practical knowledge of reorder points, economic order quantities, lead times, and supplier minimum order quantities.
- Experience managing store-level or distribution-level inventory.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex inventory and purchasing data.
- High attention to detail and a structured approach to prioritization.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing operational requirements.
- Confidence communicating with senior executives and presenting clear recommendations.
- Strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills.
- Hands‑on experience using demand planning, inventory management, reporting, and analytical tools.
