Job summary

Star Services in the United Arab Emirates seeks a qualified maintenance professional to handle mechanical maintenance in the Finishing Section of our steel operations. The role requires a Diploma or Bachelor's degree and at least five years in steel industry maintenance, with strong skills in reading drawings and servicing finishing mill equipment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in steel industry focusing on mechanical maintenance.
• Diploma or Bachelor's degree required.
• Proficient in reading mechanical drawings and maintenance manuals.
• Experience in finishing section maintenance and equipment safety.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily mechanical maintenance in the Finishing Section.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of finishing mill equipment.
• Attend mechanical breakdowns and restore equipment safely and efficiently.
• Inspect equipment for abnormal conditions such as vibration, leakage, overheating, misalignment, and unusual noise.
• Dismantle, inspect, repair, assemble, and replace mechanical components.
• Maintain and troubleshoot gearboxes, bearings, couplings, shafts, rollers, guides, conveyors, shears, and related equipment.
• Assist with maintenance of cooling beds, roller tables, transfer systems, and material-handling equipment.
• Carry out alignment, leveling, lubrication, and mechanical adjustments.
• Support planned shutdowns, major maintenance, overhauls, and equipment modifications.
• Use drawings and manuals for repairs; coordinate with specialists for hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Maintain tools, lifting equipment, and spares in good condition.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out daily mechanical maintenance activities in the Finishing Section.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of finishing mill equipment.
• Attend mechanical breakdowns and restore equipment safely and efficiently.
• Inspect equipment and identify abnormal conditions such as vibration, leakage, overheating, misalignment, and unusual noise.
• Carry out dismantling, inspection, repair, assembly, and replacement of mechanical components.
• Maintain and troubleshoot gearboxes, bearings, couplings, shafts, rollers, guides, conveyors, shears, straightening machines, and related equipment.
• Assist with maintenance of cooling beds, roller tables, transfer systems, bundling and material-handling equipment.
• Carry out alignment, leveling, lubrication, and mechanical adjustment activities.
• Support planned shutdowns, major maintenance, overhauling, and equipment modification activities.
• Use mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and maintenance instructions when carrying out repairs.
• Check hydraulic and pneumatic equipment and coordinate with the relevant specialists when required.
• Maintain tools, tackles, lifting equipment, and maintenance spares in proper condition.
• Coordinate with Production, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Operations teams during maintenance activities.
• Record maintenance work, breakdown details, inspections, and completed jobs.
• Support root-cause analysis of recurring mechanical failures.
• Maintain good housekeeping in the finishing and maintenance areas.
• Follow all SOPs, PTW, LOTO, PPE, and plant HSE requirements.
