Job summary

ENGIE COFELY ENERGY SERVICES LLC is seeking a senior operations leader to run a 24/7 hyperscale data center in Dubai. You will oversee electrical, mechanical, fire, security and facility management systems, ensuring maximum uptime and compliance with global standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Facilities Engineering.
  • 5–10 years in mission-critical facilities or hyperscale data center operations.
  • Minimum 3 years in a leadership role managing critical facility operations in large data centers (>20MW).
  • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution, mechanical systems and mission-critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end operations of a hyperscale data center to ensure availability.
  • ManageHV/MV/LV electrical distribution, UPS, generators, HVAC, BMS, DCIM, and safety systems.
  • Provide leadership for engineers, technicians and shift managers; foster high performance.
  • Ensure 24/7 staffing, succession planning and leadership development.
  • Deliver 99.999% service availability through proactive and predictive maintenance.
  • Lead incident response as Incident Commander and manage RCA actions.
  • Maintain SOPs, MOPs and EOPs; chair CAB meetings under change-control.
  • Oversee capacity planning, expansion projects and vendor management.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO, Uptime Institute standards and local regulations.

Job description

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end operations of a hyperscale data center to ensure continuous availability and operational integrity.
  • Manage mission‑critical infrastructure for TierIII and TierIV data center operations, ensuring all electrical and mechanical systems operate within design parameters while maintaining maximum reliability.
  • Maintain operational readiness of high‑voltage (HV), medium‑voltage (MV), low‑voltage (LV) electrical distribution systems, UPS units, diesel generators, ATS, STS, chiller plants, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, fire detection and suppression systems, BMS, EPMS, DCIM and security & access control systems.
  • Provide leadership for Critical Facility Engineers, Shift Managers, Technicians and Engineering Supervisors; foster a high‑performance culture focused on operational excellence, accountability, safety and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure adequate staffing and competency for 24/7 operations, developing succession planning, technical capability and leadership development programs.
  • Deliver 99.999% service availability through proactive operations, maintenance strategies and reliability‑centered, predictive, preventive and condition‑based maintenance programs.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and infrastructure resilience; review operational metrics and identify opportunities to improve reliability and performance.
  • Serve as Incident Commander during critical facility events, lead emergency response and escalation management for power, cooling or infrastructure failures.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) following major incidents; develop corrective and preventive action plans to eliminate recurring failures.
  • Maintain comprehensive emergency response procedures and business continuity plans; oversee preventive, corrective, predictive and emergency maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all maintenance follows approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Method of Procedures (MOPs) and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs).
  • Chair Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings for operational changes; review and approve maintenance windows and operational risk assessments under strict change‑management controls.
  • Lead capacity planning for electrical, mechanical and white‑space infrastructure; support expansion projects, commissioning and integration of new data halls and critical systems.
  • Collaborate with construction, commissioning and engineering teams during facility expansion; monitor utilization of power, cooling, rack density and floor space to optimize capacity.
  • Manage OEMs, contractors and facility service providers; establish vendor performance metrics and Service Level Agreements (SLAs), conduct contractor safety audits and operational performance reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with permit‑to‑work systems, lockout/tagout procedures, Uptime Institute Operational Sustainability standards, ISO27001, ISO9001, ISO22301, ISO45001, ISO50001 and local electrical, environmental and safety regulations.
  • Lead internal and external compliance audits; ensure adherence to Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies.
  • Develop and manage annual operational budgets (OPEX); support long‑term capital planning (CAPEX) for infrastructure upgrades and expansion.
  • Drive cost optimization while maintaining operational resilience; manage procurement planning and lifecycle replacement strategies for critical assets.
  • Act as the primary operational interface for internal stakeholders and enterprise customers; support customer technical audits, compliance reviews and operational reporting.
  • Present operational performance metrics, risk assessments and business updates to executive leadership; maintain strong relationships with engineering, construction, IT operations and security teams.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 5–10years of experience in mission‑critical facilities or hyperscale data center operations.
  • Minimum 3years in a leadership role managing critical facility operations, with proven experience in hyperscale or large‑scale data centers exceeding 20MW critical load.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution, mechanical systems, controls and mission‑critical infrastructure.
  • Experience managing infrastructure upgrades and expansion projects; ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
  • Familiarity with ISO and industry standards such as Uptime Institute, ISO27001, ISO9001, ISO22301, ISO45001, ISO50001 and related regulations.
Working Environment

24×7×365 mission‑critical hyperscale data center environment with on‑call leadership responsibilities during critical incidents and emergencies. Occasional travel to regional facilities and expansion projects. Requires the ability to lead emergency response activities and work extended hours during planned maintenance, commissioning and infrastructure upgrades.
