Job summary

Hamriyah Free Zone is seeking a skilled Customs Clearance Specialist to manage end-to-end clearance activities for imports, exports, and re-exports within the Free Zone ecosystem.

You will prepare declarations, coordinate with authorities and forwarders, and ensure compliance with UAE customs regulations while maintaining accurate documentation and records.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain, Shipping, Business Administration or related field.
• Practical experience in customs clearance, import/export or shipping documentation in the UAE.
• Experience with Hamriyah Free Zone customs procedures preferred.
• Good knowledge of UAE customs procedures, Free Zone transactions, HS codes and import/export documentation.
• Experience dealing with customs authorities, Free Zone authorities, freight forwarders and clearing agents.
• Understanding of import, export, re-export and Free Zone-to-mainland movements.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to independently follow up shipments and documentation.
• Good English communication skills; Arabic an advantage.
• MS Office and online systems knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Handle customs clearance activities for imports, exports, re-exports and other movements of goods related to Hamriyah Free Zone operations.
• Prepare, review and process customs declarations and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate documentation for movement of goods between the Free Zone, UAE mainland, ports and other locations.
• Ensure compliance with Hamriyah Free Zone and UAE/Sharjah customs regulations and procedures.
• Coordinate with customs authorities, Hamriyah Free Zone authorities, freight forwarders and clearing agents as required.
• Verify invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, bills of lading/airway bills and other shipping documentation.
• Ensure correct HS code classification and maintain supporting records.
• Monitor customs clearance status and follow up on documentation issues or delays.
• Maintain proper records of customs declarations and related correspondence.
• Coordinate with Logistics, Stores, Sales, Finance and other departments to complete clearance requirements on time.
• Support reconciliation of imported/exported/re-exported goods against records.
• Monitor changes in customs requirements and ensure process compliance.
• Identify customs-related risks or discrepancies and escalate.

Job description

• Handle customs clearance activities for imports, exports, re-exports and other movements of goods relating to Hamriyah Free Zone operations.

• Prepare, review and process customs declarations and supporting documentation.

• Coordinate documentation for movement of goods between the Free Zone, UAE mainland, ports and other relevant locations.

• Ensure compliance with Hamriyah Free Zone and applicable UAE/Sharjah customs regulations and procedures.

• Coordinate with customs authorities, Hamriyah Free Zone authorities, freight forwarders, shipping lines, transporters and clearing agents as required.

• Verify invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, bills of lading/airway bills, delivery orders and other shipping/customs documentation before submission.

• Ensure correct HS code classification and maintain the required supporting records.

• Monitor customs clearance status and follow up on documentation issues, inspections, approvals or delays.

• Maintain proper records of customs declarations, import/export documentation, permits, approvals and related correspondence.

• Coordinate with Logistics, Stores, Sales, Finance and other departments to ensure documentation and clearance requirements are completed on time.

• Support reconciliation of imported, exported and re-exported goods against customs and company records.

• Monitor changes in customs and Hamriyah Free Zone requirements and ensure that our processes remain compliant.

• Identify customs-related risks, documentation discrepancies or potential penalties and elevate them promptly.

Desired Candidate Profile

1. Relevant qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain, Shipping, Business Administration or a related field.

2. Practical experience in customs clearance, import/export or shipping documentation in the UAE.

3. Previous hands-on experience with Hamriyah Free Zone customs procedures is strongly preferred.

4. Good knowledge of UAE customs procedures, Free Zone transactions, HS codes and import/export documentation.

5. Experience dealing directly with customs authorities, Free Zone authorities, freight forwarders and clearing agents.

6. Good understanding of import, export, re-export and Free Zone-to-mainland movements.

7. Strong attention to detail and ability to independently follow up shipments and documentation.

8. Good English communication skills; Arabic would be an advantage.

9. Good working knowledge of MS Office and relevant customs/Free Zone online systems.
