Allocation Assist Middle East seeks a senior Consultant Reconstructive Ophthalmologist - Oculoplasty in Dubai to lead complex periocular and orbital reconstructions, including eyelid and lacrimal procedures. Ideal candidates have 5–7 years post-specialist experience in reconstructive ophthalmology, strong surgical judgment, and eligibility for licensing in Dubai.

Qualifications

  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
  • Board Certification or Fellowship in Ophthalmology.
  • Subspecialty training in Oculoplastic or Reconstructive Ophthalmology.
  • Minimum 5-7 years post-specialist experience in reconstructive ophthalmology and oculoplastic surgery.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and manage ophthalmic and periocular disorders requiring reconstructive or oculoplastic treatment.
  • Perform eyelid reconstruction for congenital, traumatic, postoperative, and disease-related defects.
  • Conduct lacrimal procedures for tear drainage disorders and related functional conditions.
  • Perform orbital surgery for selected inflammatory, structural, traumatic, or neoplastic conditions.
  • Manage eyelid malpositions including ectropion, entropion, ptosis, and other functional abnormalities.
  • Evaluate patients with orbital tumors, periocular lesions, facial trauma, and complex reconstructive requirements.
  • Plan and perform functional eyelid procedures designed to restore ocular protection and normal anatomy.
  • Provide reconstructive treatment following excision of periocular tumors where appropriate.
  • Assess orbital imaging, ophthalmic investigations, pathology findings, and other diagnostic studies when planning treatment.
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient ophthalmology consultations for reconstructive and oculoplastic cases.
  • Coordinate complex treatment with ENT surgeons, maxillofacial surgeons, plastic surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, and other specialists.
  • Develop individualized operative and postoperative plans based on anatomy, diagnosis, visual function, and patient-specific risk.
  • Counsel patients and families regarding surgical options, expected outcomes, potential complications, and postoperative care.
  • Monitor wound healing, eyelid function, orbital recovery, tear drainage, vision, and other postoperative outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records covering consultations, imaging review, procedures, operative findings, and follow-up.
  • Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, research, teaching, and continuing medical education.
  • Support patient safety, infection prevention, and evidence-based standards across ophthalmic surgical services.

Role Context

The Consultant Reconstructive Ophthalmologist will provide specialist assessment and surgical treatment for patients with complex ophthalmic, orbital, eyelid, lacrimal, and periocular conditions requiring reconstructive intervention.
