Overview

The Consultant Oculoplastic Surgeon will provide expert surgical and clinical care for patients requiring functional, reconstructive, trauma‑related, orbital, lacrimal, and cosmetic periocular treatment. The role combines advanced ophthalmic surgical judgment with multidisciplinary collaboration across dermatology, oncology, maxillofacial surgery, imaging, anesthesia, nursing, and allied healthcare teams. The position also supports clinical governance, quality improvement, training, and evidence‑based development of oculoplastic services in Dubai.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a full range of eyelid, orbital, and lacrimal surgeries, including functional and complex reconstructive procedures.
  • Manage periocular trauma, orbital injuries, eyelid deformities, lacrimal disorders, periocular tumors, and post‑oncologic reconstruction cases.
  • Provide aesthetic oculoplastic services such as upper and lower blepharoplasty, injectables, and minimally invasive rejuvenation treatments.
  • Assess patients thoroughly and develop individualized surgical or non‑surgical treatment plans based on diagnosis, functional needs, and aesthetic goals.
  • Collaborate with dermatology, oncology, maxillofacial surgery, ophthalmology, radiology, anesthesia, and nursing teams for integrated care.
  • Maintain high standards of surgical planning, informed consent, operative documentation, post‑operative care, and long‑term follow‑up.
  • Apply evidence‑based techniques to support safe outcomes in both reconstructive and cosmetic oculoplastic procedures.
  • Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement projects, case reviews, audits, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Support departmental training, mentoring, and professional development for junior doctors, fellows, nurses, and clinical staff.
  • Stay updated with modern oculoplastic techniques, periocular aesthetics, orbital surgery developments, and reconstructive best practices.
Ideal Profile
  • Tier 1 medical qualification such as American Board Certification, UK CCT, Canadian Fellowship, Australian Fellowship, New Zealand Fellowship, or equivalent.
  • Fellowship training in Oculoplastic Surgery from a recognized institution.
  • Demonstrated expertise in reconstructive, trauma, orbital, lacrimal, and cosmetic oculoplastic procedures.
  • Eligibility for or possession of Dubai healthcare licensing.
  • Strong clinical judgment in managing functional and aesthetic periocular cases.
  • Proven ability to work within a multidisciplinary ophthalmic and surgical care environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a patient‑centered and culturally sensitive communication style.
