Job Summary
Consultant - Pediatric Anesthesia – Full‑time position located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The role requires a physician with advanced expertise in neonatal anesthesia, pediatric airway management, high‑risk surgical anesthesia, perioperative care, sedation, pain control, and pediatric emergency response.
Salary & Location
Salary range: 70,000–90,000 AED per month (subject to confirmation by employer). Location: Dubai, UAE.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe and evidence‑based anesthesia care for neonates, infants, children, and adolescents across elective, urgent, emergency, and high‑risk surgical procedures.
- Conduct comprehensive preoperative assessment and risk stratification for pediatric patients, including review of medical history, airway risk, comorbidities, investigations, and surgical requirements.
- Deliver intraoperative anesthesia management with careful attention to airway control, ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, fluid management, medication safety, and age‑specific physiological needs.
- Manage anesthesia for complex pediatric and neonatal surgeries, including high‑risk cases requiring advanced monitoring and multidisciplinary planning.
- Oversee postoperative recovery, pain management, sedation protocols, complication prevention, and safe transfer to ward, PICU, NICU, or recovery areas.
- Support PICU and NICU teams with pediatric airway management, procedural sedation, emergency airway intervention, and critical care‑related anesthesia input.
- Participate in pediatric emergency response, including resuscitation, stabilization, crisis management, and rapid clinical decision‑making for critically ill children.
- Ensure adherence to pediatric anesthesia safety standards, international clinical guidelines, UAE regulatory requirements, infection control policies, and patient safety protocols.
- Contribute to clinical audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, and departmental governance activities.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including anesthesia plans, consent records, intraoperative notes, medication records, monitoring details, pain plans, and recovery updates.
- Teach and supervise residents, fellows, nurses, anesthesia technicians, and allied health staff involved in pediatric perioperative care.
- Participate in simulation‑based training for pediatric emergencies, airway crises, resuscitation scenarios, and high‑risk anesthesia events.
- Engage in research, academic activities, evidence‑based practice, and continuous professional development.
- Contribute to departmental policy development, clinical pathways, pediatric anesthesia protocols, sedation standards, and safety improvement programs.
Qualifications
- Medical degree such as MBBS, MD, or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Completed residency training in Anesthesiology.
- Recognized fellowship or subspecialty training in Pediatric Anesthesia.
- Board certification such as American Board, Royal College, Arab Board, or equivalent recognized qualification.
- Eligibility for UAE consultant‑level anesthesia licensure.
- Minimum 3‑5 years of post‑consultant experience in pediatric anesthesia is preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in neonatal anesthesia, infant anesthesia, pediatric airway management, high‑risk anesthesia, procedural sedation, and pediatric resuscitation.
- Experience in tertiary‑care hospitals, high‑volume pediatric surgical centers, children’s hospitals, or advanced pediatric perioperative services is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of pediatric physiology, perioperative safety, postoperative pain control, emergency stabilization, and multidisciplinary surgical care.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, leadership, and clinical decision‑making skills.
- Ability to work effectively with pediatric surgeons, anesthesiologists, intensivists, neonatologists, nurses, recovery teams, and allied healthcare professionals.
