Job description

Consultant Anesthesiologist – Pediatric (Full‑time) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, requires a minimum of 3‑5 years of post‑consultant experience in pediatric anesthesia. The role focuses on providing advanced anesthesia care for neonates, infants, children, and adolescents in a high‑acuity surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide safe anesthesia care for neonates, infants, children, and adolescents across elective, emergency, and high‑risk surgical procedures.
  • Conduct comprehensive pre‑operative assessments, clinical reviews, airway evaluations, and risk stratification for pediatric patients.
  • Deliver intra‑operative anesthesia management, including airway control, ventilation support, fluid management, hemodynamic monitoring, and temperature regulation.
  • Manage anesthesia for complex pediatric and neonatal surgeries requiring advanced clinical judgment and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Oversee post‑operative recovery plans, acute pain management, sedation protocols, and safe transfer of care after surgery.
  • Support PICU and NICU teams with pediatric airway management, procedural sedation, emergency stabilization, and critical care pathways.
  • Participate in pediatric emergency response, including resuscitation, crisis management, and stabilization of critically ill children.
  • Ensure clinical practice follows pediatric anesthesia safety standards, international guidelines, hospital policies, and UAE regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to clinical audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, quality improvement projects, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation for assessments, anesthesia plans, intra‑operative records, recovery notes, consent records, and follow‑up care.
  • Teach and supervise residents, fellows, nurses, and allied health staff involved in pediatric anesthesia and peri‑operative services.
  • Participate in simulation‑based training for pediatric emergencies, difficult airway scenarios, resuscitation events, and crisis response.
  • Support research, academic activity, clinical pathway development, departmental protocols, and continuous professional development.
  • Help strengthen pediatric anesthesia services through leadership, teamwork, structured governance, and consistent evidence‑based decision‑making.
Ideal Profile
  • Medical degree such as MBBS, MD, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Completed residency training in Anesthesiology.
  • Recognized fellowship or subspecialty training in Pediatric Anesthesia.
  • Board certification such as American Board, Royal College, Arab Board, or equivalent recognized credential.
  • Eligibility for DOH or HAAD Consultant License.
  • Minimum 3‑5 years of post‑consultant experience in pediatric anesthesia preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in neonatal anesthesia, infant anesthesia, pediatric airway management, procedural sedation, and peri‑operative care.
  • Experience in a tertiary‑care hospital or high‑volume pediatric surgical center is an advantage.
  • Strong ability to manage complex surgical cases, pediatric emergencies, and high‑risk anesthesia situations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, clinical documentation, teaching, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
