Pediatric Anesthesia Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based anesthesia for neonates, infants, children, and adolescents.
• Conduct comprehensive preoperative assessments and pediatric risk stratification.
• Develop appropriate anesthesia plans according to the patient 's age, clinical condition, and planned procedure.
• Deliver intraoperative anesthesia management, including airway control, ventilation, and hemodynamic monitoring.
• Manage anesthesia for high-risk, complex pediatric, and neonatal surgical procedures.
• Oversee postoperative recovery and appropriate pain management.
• Manage pediatric sedation protocols within approved clinical privileges.
• Apply established pediatric anesthesia safety standards and clinical guidelines.

Critical Care and Emergency Support

The Consultant Pediatric Anesthesiologist will provide specialist airway and sedation support to Pediatric Intensive Care and Neonatal Intensive Care teams when required. The position also involves participation in pediatric emergency responses, including resuscitation and stabilization of critically ill patients.

Clinical Quality and Patient Safety

• Contribute to clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives.
• Participate in morbidity and mortality reviews.
• Support departmental patient-safety programs.
• Contribute to the development of pediatric anesthesia policies and clinical pathways.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Requirements

• MBBS, MD, or equivalent medical degree.
• Completion of residency training in Anesthesiology.
• Recognized fellowship or subspecialty training in Pediatric Anesthesia.
• Board Certification such as American Board, Royal College, Arab Board, or equivalent.
• Eligibility for DOH-HAAD Consultant License.
• Minimum 3-5 years of post-consultant experience in pediatric anesthesia is preferred.
• Demonstrated expertise in neonatal and pediatric airway management.
• Experience within a tertiary-care or high-volume pediatric surgical center is an advantage.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and clinical leadership skills.
