Key Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based anesthesia care for neonates, infants, children, and adolescents across elective, emergency, and high-risk surgical procedures.
• Conduct detailed preoperative assessments, review medical history, evaluate anesthesia risks, and prepare individualized pediatric anesthesia plans.
• Manage intraoperative anesthesia, including airway control, ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, fluid management, and patient stabilization.
• Deliver anesthesia for complex neonatal and pediatric surgeries requiring advanced clinical judgment and close multidisciplinary coordination.
• Oversee postoperative recovery, pain management, sedation protocols, and safe transfer of pediatric patients to recovery areas, PICU, or NICU when required.
• Support PICU and NICU teams with pediatric airway management, procedural sedation, and urgent clinical interventions.
• Participate in pediatric emergency response, resuscitation, crisis management, and stabilization of critically ill children.
• Ensure compliance with pediatric anesthesia safety standards, UAE regulatory requirements, hospital policies, and international clinical guidelines.
• Contribute to clinical audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, quality improvement initiatives, and patient-safety programs.
• Maintain accurate anesthesia records, perioperative documentation, medication details, consent notes, and follow-up plans.
• Teach and supervise residents, fellows, nurses, and allied health staff involved in pediatric perioperative care.
• Participate in simulation-based training for pediatric emergencies, airway events, neonatal deterioration, and crisis response.
• Engage in research, academic activities, continuous professional development, and evidence-based anesthesia practice.
• Support departmental policy development, clinical pathways, and safe pediatric anesthesia service planning.

Ideal Profile

• Medical degree such as MBBS, MD, or equivalent.
• Completed residency training in Anesthesiology.
• Recognized fellowship or subspecialty training in Pediatric Anesthesia.
• Board certification such as American Board, Royal College, Arab Board, or equivalent.
• Eligibility for DOH or HAAD Consultant License.
