Role Context

The Consultant Neonatologist will provide senior clinical leadership within neonatal intensive care, managing premature and critically ill newborns from initial stabilization through ongoing intensive treatment and follow-up planning. The position requires advanced neonatal procedural skills, strong decision-making in high-acuity situations, and close collaboration with obstetric, pediatric, surgical, anesthesia, and nursing teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive consultant-level care for premature, critically ill, and high-risk newborns in the NICU.
• Diagnose and manage neonatal respiratory distress.
• Treat neonatal sepsis and other serious neonatal infections.
• Manage congenital anomalies and associated complications.
• Assess and treat neonatal metabolic disorders.
• Manage complications related to prematurity.
• Perform neonatal resuscitation and stabilization.
• Undertake endotracheal intubation and advanced airway management.
• Perform umbilical line placement.
• Establish central venous access within clinical privileges.
• Manage invasive and non-invasive neonatal ventilation.
• Lead neonatal emergency response and stabilization in delivery rooms and neonatal units.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on neonatal condition, gestational age, clinical findings, and evolving care requirements.
• Monitor treatment response and adjust intensive-care management appropriately.
• Participate in antenatal counseling for high-risk pregnancies and anticipated neonatal complications.
• Work closely with obstetricians, pediatric subspecialists, pediatric surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
