Role Summary
The Consultant - IVF and Fertility will manage patients with infertility and reproductive endocrine conditions through comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and assisted reproductive procedures. Working within a high‑volume fertility center in Saudi Arabia, the consultant will provide IVF, ICSI, egg retrieval, embryo transfer, fertility preservation, and related reproductive medicine services. The consultant will collaborate closely with obstetricians, gynecologists, embryologists, geneticists, psychologists, nurses, and laboratory professionals to deliver coordinated and evidence‑based fertility care. The role also includes clinical supervision, patient education, documentation, research, quality improvement, and compliance with Saudi healthcare and ethical requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed fertility consultations and review medical, reproductive, surgical, genetic, and treatment histories.
- Assess individuals and couples experiencing primary or secondary infertility.
- Develop individualized diagnostic and fertility treatment plans based on clinical findings and patient goals.
- Investigate ovulatory disorders, diminished ovarian reserve, tubal factors, endometriosis, male‑factor infertility, and unexplained infertility.
- Interpret hormonal profiles, ultrasound findings, semen analyses, genetic reports, and other reproductive investigations.
- Design and monitor ovarian stimulation protocols according to patient response and clinical risk.
- Perform transvaginal ultrasound monitoring throughout assisted reproductive treatment cycles.
- Conduct oocyte retrieval procedures with precision and adherence to patient‑safety protocols.
- Perform embryo transfer and other fertility‑related procedures using recognized clinical techniques.
- Provide treatment involving in vitro fertilization, intracytoplasmic sperm injection, and other assisted reproductive technologies.
- Coordinate sperm preparation, fertilization, embryo culture, cryopreservation, and transfer planning with embryology teams.
- Participate in treatment planning for embryo biopsy, preimplantation genetic testing, and advanced reproductive procedures.
- Manage complications associated with fertility treatment, including ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome and procedure‑related concerns.
- Counsel patients regarding fertility preservation, donor options, treatment alternatives, success probabilities, risks, and expected outcomes.
- Provide compassionate emotional support throughout fertility assessment and treatment.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, embryologists, geneticists, psychologists, urologists, and nursing teams.
- Participate in multidisciplinary reviews for complex infertility and reproductive endocrinology cases.
- Ensure treatment decisions comply with applicable Saudi regulations, ethical standards, and institutional policies.
- Obtain informed consent before procedures and maintain clear communication throughout the treatment cycle.
- Maintain accurate consultation records, stimulation protocols, ultrasound findings, procedure notes, and follow‑up plans.
- Monitor clinical outcomes, pregnancy rates, complications, and treatment quality indicators.
- Supervise and train nurses, junior physicians, embryology personnel, and other fertility center staff.
- Participate in clinical audits, case reviews, research projects, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to the development and review of fertility protocols, clinical pathways, and patient‑safety procedures.
- Stay current with advances in reproductive endocrinology, embryology, genetics, fertility preservation, and assisted reproductive technology.
- Participate in continuing medical education, conferences, academic activities, and professional development programs.
Ideal Profile
- Medical degree such as MD, MBBS, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Completed specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynecology or an equivalent relevant discipline.
- Board certification or recognized advanced qualification in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.
- Fellowship or accredited subspecialty training in reproductive medicine is strongly preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience performing IVF and advanced fertility procedures.
- Eligibility for consultant registration and licensing with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
- Strong clinical experience in reproductive endocrinology, infertility diagnosis, and assisted reproductive technology.
- Proven competence in ovarian stimulation, ultrasound monitoring, egg retrieval, and embryo transfer.
- Practical knowledge of IVF, ICSI, embryo biopsy, cryopreservation, and advanced ART techniques.
- Experience managing complex infertility cases and fertility treatment complications.
- Strong understanding of reproductive genetics, fertility preservation, and evidence‑based treatment protocols.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced and high‑volume fertility center.
- Excellent clinical judgment, procedural accuracy, communication, and patient counseling skills.
- Ability to discuss sensitive reproductive health matters with compassion, discretion, and cultural awareness.
