This role is suited for a consultant-level doctor who can deliver compassionate, evidence-based fertility treatment while supporting couples through diagnosis, treatment planning, procedures, counselling, and long-term reproductive care.
Context
The Consultant - IVF will provide specialist clinical care within a reproductive medicine and fertility center, managing patients from initial consultation through diagnosis, treatment planning, IVF procedures, monitoring, embryo transfer, follow-up, and outcome review. The role requires strong expertise in reproductive endocrinology, infertility management, advanced ART techniques, patient counselling, regulatory compliance, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed fertility consultations by reviewing patient history, previous treatment records, diagnostic results, reproductive goals, and clinical risk factors.
- Develop individualized treatment plans for patients and couples seeking IVF, fertility preservation, assisted reproduction, or infertility management.
- Perform IVF procedures with accuracy and care, including egg retrieval, sperm preparation coordination, embryo transfer, and related reproductive medicine procedures.
- Monitor patients throughout treatment cycles, including ovarian stimulation protocols, medication response, ultrasound evaluations, hormone monitoring, and cycle adjustments.
- Interpret diagnostic tests, fertility investigations, ultrasound findings, hormonal profiles, semen analysis results, and reproductive health reports.
- Provide evidence-based recommendations on IVF, ICSI, embryo biopsy, fertility preservation, genetic testing pathways, and advanced ART techniques.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, embryologists, geneticists, psychologists, nurses, laboratory teams, and allied healthcare professionals to support holistic patient care.
- Educate patients and couples on fertility options, procedure steps, expected outcomes, potential risks, medication use, emotional considerations, and follow-up requirements.
- Provide clear counselling to patients during treatment planning, failed cycles, pregnancy confirmation, complications, and next-step decision-making.
- Stay updated with clinical advancements in reproductive medicine, IVF protocols, ART technology, fertility preservation, and infertility treatment methods.
- Integrate appropriate new techniques and evidence-based improvements into clinical practice where aligned with patient safety and facility standards.
- Provide guidance, supervision, and training to nurses, embryologists, junior doctors, and clinical support staff involved in fertility care.
- Maintain accurate medical records, consent documentation, treatment plans, procedure notes, laboratory coordination records, and follow-up reports.
- Ensure clinical practice complies with applicable healthcare regulations, ethical standards, licensing expectations, and reproductive medicine governance requirements.
- Participate in clinical audits, case reviews, quality improvement initiatives, patient safety activities, and reproductive medicine research where required.
- Support a patient-centered care culture that values confidentiality, empathy, transparency, and high clinical standards.
Ideal Profile
- Medical degree such as MD or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Board certification in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility or equivalent recognized reproductive medicine qualification.
- Minimum 5 years of experience performing IVF and advanced reproductive procedures.
- Strong clinical experience in infertility diagnosis, reproductive endocrinology, ovarian stimulation, IVF cycle management, embryo transfer, and ART procedures.
- Proficiency in ICSI, embryo biopsy, and other advanced assisted reproductive technology techniques.
- Experience working in a high-volume fertility center, reproductive medicine clinic, hospital fertility unit, or advanced women's health facility.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to support patients through emotionally sensitive fertility journeys.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining accuracy, compassion, and patient safety.
- Comfortable collaborating with embryologists, obstetricians, genetic specialists, psychologists, nurses, and junior medical staff.
- Strong understanding of ethical standards, consent requirements, clinical documentation, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance in fertility care.
- Must hold or be eligible for relevant specialist or consultant medical licensing.
- Prior GCC or Middle East healthcare experience is an advantage.
