Role Context
The Consultant - Reproductive Medicine will guide patients through complex fertility and reproductive pathways from initial investigation through treatment, procedural care, and long-term follow-up. The role requires strong expertise in reproductive endocrinology, ovarian stimulation, fertility ultrasound, assisted conception, and management of difficult infertility cases. By coordinating treatment with embryologists, geneticists, gynecologists, laboratory teams, and fertility nurses, the consultant will help improve treatment selection, procedural safety, and reproductive outcomes.
- Assess female and male infertility through detailed reproductive history, examination, and targeted investigations.
- Review previous fertility treatment and identify factors influencing future reproductive options.
- Request and interpret hormonal investigations, ovarian reserve testing, and other fertility-related laboratory assessments.
- Develop individualized treatment plans aligned with patient age, diagnosis, reproductive goals, and previous treatment outcomes.
- Manage ovulation induction using appropriate pharmacological protocols.
- Provide clinical oversight for intrauterine insemination treatment pathways.
- Plan and manage IVF and ICSI cycles according to evidence-based reproductive medicine protocols.
- Conduct controlled ovarian stimulation and adjust medication according to follicular development and hormonal response.
- Perform and interpret transvaginal ultrasound for fertility assessment and cycle monitoring.
- Conduct follicular monitoring and determine appropriate timing of treatment interventions.
- Coordinate egg retrieval and embryo transfer pathways within approved consultant privileges.
- Counsel patients regarding egg freezing, embryo freezing, and other fertility preservation strategies.
- Evaluate and manage recurrent implantation failure using structured diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
- Investigate recurrent pregnancy loss and coordinate appropriate reproductive, genetic, anatomical, and medical assessment.
- Manage complex infertility cases requiring multidisciplinary review or advanced treatment planning.
- Discuss preimplantation genetic testing options with suitable patients in collaboration with genetics and embryology teams.
- Review embryology findings and incorporate laboratory information into clinical decision-making.
- Collaborate with embryologists, geneticists, gynecologists, and fertility nursing teams throughout treatment cycles.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences for challenging reproductive medicine cases.
- Provide comprehensive counselling on treatment options, expected outcomes, limitations, procedural risks, and alternative pathways.
- Support patients through emotionally demanding fertility treatment using a sensitive and patient-centered approach.
- Monitor treatment response, complications, and clinical outcomes throughout assisted reproductive cycles.
- Maintain accurate consultation notes, treatment protocols, consent documentation, ultrasound findings, and follow-up records.
- Comply with DHA requirements, fertility regulations, patient confidentiality standards, and clinical governance policies.
- Contribute to clinical protocol development, outcome review, audit, and quality improvement.
- Remain current with advances in IVF, ICSI, fertility preservation, reproductive endocrinology, genetics, and assisted reproductive technology.
Ideal Profile
- MBBS, MD, or an equivalent recognized medical degree.
- Recognized Specialist or Consultant qualification in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Reproductive Medicine, or a closely related specialty.
- Fellowship or advanced training in Reproductive Medicine or Infertility is highly desirable.
- Valid DHA license, eligibility, or ability to obtain appropriate consultant licensing in Dubai.
- Significant post-specialization experience in reproductive medicine and fertility care.
- Strong clinical experience managing IVF and ICSI treatment.
- Proven competence in infertility assessment and reproductive endocrinology.
- Practical expertise in controlled ovarian stimulation and cycle monitoring.
- Strong capability in transvaginal ultrasound and follicular assessment.
- Experience managing ovulation induction and IUI pathways.
- Expertise in recurrent implantation failure and recurrent pregnancy loss is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with fertility preservation, egg freezing, and embryo cryopreservation.
- Understanding of preimplantation genetic testing and its role within assisted reproduction.
- Ability to manage complex fertility cases using multidisciplinary decision-making.
- Strong communication and fertility counselling skills.
- Ability to explain complex reproductive options clearly and sensitively.
