The Consultant - Adolescent Medicine will provide specialized clinical care for young patients during a critical stage of physical, emotional, behavioral, and social development. The role focuses on early diagnosis, preventive healthcare, chronic condition management, lifestyle guidance, mental health awareness, family counselling, and individualized wellness planning. Although the recruitment location is Dubai, United Arab Emirates, the appointed consultant will work in Abu Dhabi and support a hospital-based service that requires strong pediatric expertise, patient advocacy, and sensitive communication with adolescents and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and manage adolescent medical conditions, developmental concerns, chronic illnesses, behavioral health issues, and lifestyle-related health risks.
  • Provide comprehensive healthcare services for adolescents and young patients, with attention to physical, emotional, developmental, and psychosocial wellbeing.
  • Deliver preventive healthcare services, including vaccinations, screening, health education, risk assessment, and early intervention planning.
  • Assess and support patients with concerns related to growth, puberty, nutrition, sleep, school performance, emotional wellbeing and social adjustment.
  • Develop individualized treatment and wellness plans based on patient history, clinical findings, family needs, and evidence-based adolescent medicine practices.
  • Address behavioral, emotional, and lifestyle‑related health issues in a respectful and age‑appropriate manner.
  • Collaborate with pediatricians, mental health professionals, nurses, dietitians, social workers, family support teams, and other specialists.
  • Support family counselling and patient advocacy initiatives to improve understanding, adherence, and continuity of care.
  • Provide guidance to families on chronic disease management, preventive care, healthy habits, and long‑term adolescent health planning.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation, consultation notes, treatment plans, counselling records, and follow‑up reports in line with hospital standards.
  • Participate in clinical quality improvement activities, educational programs, case reviews, and departmental learning initiatives.
  • Promote confidential, patient‑centered communication while ensuring safe care and appropriate family involvement.
  • Stay updated on adolescent medicine developments, preventive health standards, pediatric chronic disease care, and youth mental health practices.
Ideal Profile
  • Medical degree with specialization in Pediatrics, Adolescent Medicine, or a closely related field.
  • Fellowship or Board Certification in a relevant pediatric or adolescent medicine specialty.
  • DOH License Eligibility or active DOH License is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of consultant‑level pediatric experience, with strong exposure to adolescent healthcare.
  • Strong expertise in preventive medicine, developmental health, chronic disease management, adolescent wellbeing, and family‑centred care.
