Job description

We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and results-driven Construction Director to lead and oversee the successful delivery of construction projects from planning and development through completion. This role will be responsible for project execution, construction operations, cost and schedule management, quality assurance, safety compliance, contractor management, and overall project performance.

• Develop and implement construction strategies, plans, and standards aligned with the company’s business objectives.
• Provide strategic leadership and overall direction for construction projects and site operations.
• Oversee the full project lifecycle from pre-construction planning, design coordination, procurement, and construction through to completion and handover.
• Establish project objectives, timelines, budgets, resources, and key performance indicators.
• Monitor project progress, construction schedules, costs, quality, and overall performance to ensure successful project delivery.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with approved specifications and quality standards.
• Lead and manage project teams, construction managers, project managers, engineers, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, government authorities, and other key stakeholders.
• Oversee contractor selection, tendering, procurement, contract negotiations, and contractor performance management.
• Review and manage construction contracts, variations, claims, payment matters, and commercial risks.
• Implement effective cost control, budget management, resource planning, and cost optimization strategies.
• Ensure strict compliance with construction regulations, building codes, health and safety requirements, environmental standards, and company policies.
• Establish and maintain strong quality assurance and quality control processes across all construction activities.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, delays, cost overruns, and other potential construction issues.
• Lead project meetings, progress reviews, site inspections, and performance evaluations.
• Coordinate closely with Design, Engineering, Procurement, Finance, Legal, Operations, and other departments to ensure seamless project execution.
• Implement project management systems, reporting frameworks, and digital construction technologies to improve efficiency and transparency.
• Provide regular project updates, financial reports, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations to senior management.
• Lead project close-out, testing, commissioning, handover, defect management, and post-project reviews.
• Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and best practices across the organization’s construction operations.
• Proven experience in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• Significant experience in a senior construction leadership role, preferably as Construction Director, Head of Construction, Project Director, or similar.
• Demonstrated track record of successfully delivering large-scale, complex, or high-value construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, project management, contracts, procurement, cost control, scheduling, and quality management.
• Strong understanding of construction safety regulations, building codes, environmental requirements, and industry standards.
• Excellent leadership and people management skills with experience managing multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen with experience managing project budgets, contracts, variations, and cost controls.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, deadlines, and complex stakeholder requirements.
• Experience managing contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and major construction partners.
• Proficiency in construction project management tools and software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, AutoCAD, BIM, or similar platforms is an advantage.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to resolve complex project and construction issues.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and make timely decisions in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Project Management, or a related field is preferred.
• Professional qualifications such as PMP, RICS, CIOB, PE, or equivalent construction-related certifications are an advantage.
